How would you recommend for spiritual aspirant to begin walking the

path instructed by Ramana Maharshi, if teacher is not present, things

like books, articles, daily sadhana etc...

Thanks,

Lior

Dear Lior,

My suggestion is that you could get an overview from David Godman's 'Be As You

Are' this will lead

you into Ramana's Talks and Collected Works .If you go to the Ramanasramam main

site [linked to

this site] you'll find lists of books and some downloadables .

Which country are you in ?

Don't be concerned about no Teacher .The Satguru is there within your Heart and

guidance comes

from both within and without to the sincere, earnest aspirant .

I expect others will write to you as well .

Best wishes and regards,

in His Grace,

Alan

Dear Lior,

as about books - Alan already answered. If you are living inside EU

there is also an Online-Library now which has been started to be

built up, to lend books about Bhagavan and his teaching.

It is found as download in the files-section and will be announced

here once a month.

Sharing with devotees is of much help ... Also our regular Friday

chatroom has turned out a wonderful possibility, where one can ask

questions and share about the path or whatever may arise.

Also one can ask on the group or share here.

Most of all full trust in Ramana is needed - for the beginning,

middle and end of the path. He will guide in the way he chooses.

yours in Sri Ramana

> Hi friends,

I have been a Ramana devotee for a long

time.I think Ramana himself thought it was an

advantage to have satsangh with a living guru. I

believe Ramana is still with us but I am sure he would

have wanted us to have satsangh with a living guru. In

the US there are a number of gurus in the advaita

tradition but in India today there don't seem to be

any to my knowledge. So I am addressing this question

to the forum,"Do you guys know of any living advaita

gurus in India?.If so do they teach in silence and

what are your experiences with this guru?". I live in

India, so I am interested in the teachers who live in

India.

Dear Lior,

A good idea imo would be to read Maharshi's "Who am I" as soon as

possible and get started with Atma Vichara. In Ramana's time this was

also suggested to newcomers.

In addition by reading about Maharshi's beautiful life you can develop

Bhakti and aid your sadhana by doing japa of the mantra Om Shri

Bhagavate Aruanchala Ramanaye.

Its amazing grace to be drawn towards Maharshi.

This an answer I got for a similar question number 10085 (there are

many more answers there)

"Om namo bhagavathe sri ramanaya.

Dear all,

This is satheesh kumar here.

thought will share some information regarding people

who have realized thro the Grace of Bhagavan, and are

physically present now..Most of you could be knowing

,still may be it will be useful for some devotees.

Sri Lakshmana Swami lives in Thiruvannamalai and he is

supposed to be realized and he himself has explained

(Refer book by Sri David godman)how he has been taken

hold by the master.

Similarly ,Smt.Kanakammaal has learned and practiced

Vichara under Sri Muruganar and has written

commentaries on the works of Bhagavan as suggested by

Muruganar.She lives in the Ashram.

Sri Dheenanathan who is a devotee of Janaki Matha(who

has been referred by Bhagavan himself as having

attained realization),is staying in Thanjavur(6 hours

from Madras),and he has written a commentary on

Kaivalya Navaneetham(Cream of Emancipation) and is

available to people who have doubts/difficulties in

their sadhana.

So may be this information could be useful to atleast

few people who can meet the above mentioned disciples

of Bhagavan if ordained likewise by Bhagavan..

Love,Satheesh

"
