Does someone know the postal addresses and websites of

Ramakrishna Lodge and Hotel Aruna. Is Ramakrishna

Lodge the same as Hotel Ramakrishna?

Being as I am.

Dear friend,

Nice to know that you are planning a trip to Arunachala.

May I suggest you one thing? If you have any query about

Tiruvannamalai, you may email Sri Ramanasramam and I find that they

are very quick in their response to emails from devotees.

If you do not have Ashram's email, here it is

ashram.

I also take this opportunity to wish all friends in this group Happy

Holidays and Happy New Year.

Dear Richard,

It is advisable to stay in Ramanashramam Guest House

Please write to president of Ramanashramam

get e-mail address from Ramanashram website.

If there is no accomodation there, You can stay in Andrhra ashram near by or sri

Sannidhi. They arte all opposite to Ramanashram.

Normally Ramanashram accomodates foreigners for a short stay

om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya

Dear Richard,

perhaps to add this: I have stayed at the Ashram itself for 2 weeks.

Perhaps a hotel may be more comfortable - but the rooms there also have

electric fans and normal beds and some have even Western toilets.

Food at the Ashram is excellent. There are also limited places on a table to eat,

if you can't sit on the floor.

It is of use to bring some things with you or buy in the shop,

which is direclty opposite of the ashram and has some Western articles.

Important is toilet-paper, as you will not find it there :) and if you don't

want to eat with the hands

you can bring cutlery. Also some slippers made of material, which you can wash and dry

speedy is very important as there is a constant leaving shoes before entering a building

and when rain comes the shoes become wet and there is much mud on the compound

everywhere. I had a constant running after my shoes - and they have become wet all the time :)

Drinking water is very important to have with you throughout the day. Best is to use

a plastic bottle, but be careful not to use it too long or clean it properly. Otherwise

bacterias may come in and you may have a digestive problem.

In the dining Hall of Ramanashram one can fill up the water-bottles with drinking

water during all the meals.

Food was never any problem, but the water-bottle.

Also see that you have a small medicine cabinett with you containing things for

the digestive system, something against moskito-bites (very important!), something against

cold (one catches there easy a cold ) and also some dressing materials for smaller wounds.

One needs not to do a malaria-prophylaxis by all means - but take some medicine with you.

Saying this out of experience. Perhaps it is helpful to keep in the background for

your journey.

Enjoy your trip!!

Kind Regards

Gabriele

Dear Richard and All: Have a good and peaceful Trip!

Shri. Seshadri Ashram is adjacent to Ramanasramam and is another

place to consider staying; AC Rooms are Rs. 500/day and are well

equipped; Hot Water and Ceiling Fans are available; I will dig up

and see if I have contact information and post it here.

Also, uploading three files to the 'Files' area with some local info:

1. Ramanasramam Neighborhood.doc Microsoft Word file with rough

drawing of the layout of Ramanasramam and other nearby shops/places.

(this was originally created by another devotee but was transcribed

into Word later..)

2. Ramanasramam_Daily_Routine.doc 1st page of Ramanasramam Notice

3. Ramanasramam_Timings.doc another Rear page of Ramanasramam Notice

love to all.. Murthy
