Guest guest
Once when meditating in the presence of Bhagavan, the mind persisited in wandering. I couldn't control it. So I gave up meditation and opened my eyes. Bhagavan at once sat up and said, "Oh! You abandoned it thinking it is the swabhava (habit) of the mind to wander. Whatever we practise becomes the swabhava. If control is practised persistently that will become the swabhava." - From the January, 1971 Mountain Path: "How Bhagavan Came To Me," by Sadhu Trivenigiri Swami. Guest guest
'Turning inward' becomes easy when we ponder and slowly grasp Ramana's teaching that whatever is outside is just our self-created dream. In Ramana's simile, it is a cinema show projected with Self as the Light Bulb Vasanas as the Recorded Film Mind and the senses as the Lens that expand these vasanas into a world view When we either take this teaching on faith or we get a glimpse of it during meditation through His Grace, things of the world (including things, thoughts and the mind-process) gradually loses its attraction or controlling power over our attention. The compelling nature of events and the 'reality' of the observer start lightening up. Ramana sings to the Inner Guru: Show me your beauty, Oh Arunachala, so that this mind roaming all over the world will see You and stay satisfied.
