Guest guest
Can SKS tell me whether the jnana-bhoomikas, as described by Bhagavan in 'Spiritual Instruction' Ch.4 questions 2-3, are equatable with 'planes' or 'initiations'? A web-search for 'bhoomika' is unhelpful, presenting only a myriad of hits on some Bollywood performer with the good name of Bhoomika Chawli, who whilst outwardly resembling an apsara and attracting bhakti-bhoomikas, does not appear to be a devotee of either Self-Enquiry or ego- annihilation. Guest guest
Dear all, Jnana Bhoomi's refer to the state of existance of the individual / plane on which we operate. After waking, dream and sleep, 4th state of 'Turiya' is the state of Enlightenment. Thereafter, the planes 5,6,7 refer to to finer differences in realisation. They dont mean any difference in realization as such(as Bhagavan has said),but the influence of the Jnani over the world. Sri Bhagavan is a perfect example of a Jnani, established in the state of Brahmavid Varishta (7th Jnani Bhoomi/ Plane)..which is extreamely rare. But He Himself has said that, karma is the cause for whether a Jnani is in the state of turiya or Varishta.. As, after realization, there is no one to desire for such states.. And, scriptures which extoll the Varishta does not say those exist in planes 4 to 6 are ignorant.. Guest guest
Thank-you,Satheesh. I assume the word Bhoomika has a meaning which suits it to be used as a personal name, as in the case of Miss Chawli. I suppose that, since none of the jnani have any sense of individuality, it is misleading to think of them collectively, as countable. Since they are not separate. Which explains the paradox as to whether progression of consciousness goes on forever (in which case there can be no Supreme or Absolute, since there is always One greater) or is limited, finished, and fossilized at some point. It is said the Avatar or World Teacher can incarnate on any plane He chooses, the better to awake mankind. We only assume that offices of appointment, such as Regents, Logoi, Kumaras, Buddhas - can be arranged in an order of ascendancy; as if masters were always more advanced that their servants. There is a parallel in mathematics, where infinity raised to its own power produces a non-denumerable quantity which can be proved different, yet it cannot be said to be in any way larger.
