Guest guest
I understand that Bhagvan Sri Ramana Maharshi selected forty two slokas out of the 700 slokas of Bhagavat Gita. I am looking for help in identifying the Bhagvan's selection. Thanks
Guest guest
Dear 'putnamneil', The forty two slokas selected from the Bhagavat Gita by Ramana can be found in Arthur Osbornes "Collected Works of Sri Ramana Maharshi", chapter 10. This is also on line at: http://www.ramana-maharshi.org/index.htm Click on "Page Links" on left hand side of page.. Then select "Downloads Page" to find many complete works including "Collected Works." P. Guest guest
If you look at the pdf file which Peter mentioned, you will see the appropriate Bhagavad Gita reference at the end of each Verse, the Roman Numeral indicating Chapter, and the Arabic numbers indicating the Verse which Bhagavan translated from Sanskrit into Tamil. It is fascinating to note that Bhagavan has also written a version for chanting; this is in kali venba metre, called the "Bhagavad Gitaa Saaram"; as far as I know, this has not yet been translated. When this is done, it will be seen more as an essay than separate Verses. Note that in some versions of the Collected works there are misprints regarding the references given at the end of each Verse, which are as follows: Verse 8: ii:27 should read "ii:17" Verse 10: xiii:33 should read "xiii:32" Verse 34: ii:35 should read "ii:55" - durai muhil RamanaMaharshi Saturday, July 09, 2005 4:25 AM Re: [RamanaMaharshi] Bhagavat Gita selected verses Dear, These are the forty two verses.
