Guest guest
Dear members, I have read selected verses of Yoga Vasishta. I wanted to read more slokas. Have there available more books of Yoga Vasishta, I read sometimes have printed Brihat Yoga Vasishta (Maha Ramayana). This book influenced me very deeply. I have been also read about shankara text from collected works of Sri Ramana Maharshi. I wanted to know more books of Sri Shankaraand and about advaita vedanta. By the way shortly referring discussion about association with sages: Sri Ramana said that so long when one is identified itself with body one sees other as bodies and so long outside Guru is necessary which in fact is The Self in human mode. I have often thought this question with association with visible wises. Scriptures say thiskind association will pure seeker's mind at time. In ancient world this was much more possible and in Ramana's time when Sri Ramana was visible. But how to find companion of wises in nowaday's world ( in strong Kali-yuga time)and specielt to person who lives in country in which have no possible to be personal contact even with other seekers. Have there even somekind visible Guru's anywhere? I know Sri Bhagavan go on His teachings in formless level because for His grace I found His teachings (and Hindu-scriptures)and when I did my visit to ashram four years ago I felt His presence in ashram. Sometimes I have thought "where" sages will go after leaving their body, "what" go on their invisible quiding? they merge in to the Self which is Consciousness, so is it Consciousness which's presence can feel in ashram. This is very difficult to understand to ignorant person. Although I think why to think thiskind? Sri Ramana said where can I go? I apologize my bad english. taina
Guest guest
Beloved devotees of Ramana Maharshi, As u said it is difficult to find sages in this kali yuga. There r sages in this kaliyuga also. You can find them everywhere. One of my friend had told me that there is a saint in Tiruvannamalai also. As told by a Mahatma in Tiruvannamali there'll be atleast 7 sages aound the year. By true and earnest sadhana we can definitely find them. Go to Tiruvannamalai with that intense desire and you are sure to find them. If I've wrote anything wrong it's due to my ignorance, and if I'd wrote anything which is of use to you it's because of Sri Ramana Maharshi the Great Guru. Humble prostrations Sreejith

Guest guest
Taina previously asked: >> I have read selected verses of Yoga Vasishta. I wanted to read more slokas. Have there available more books of Yoga Vasishta << Then in response, Peter stated: >You might try, "The Supreme Yoga: a New Translation of Yoga Vasistha" by >Swami Venkatesananda. **************************************** The Venkatesananda translation of Vasistha was/is published by the Divine Life Society. The complete translation was published in 2 vols by the DLS, firstly in South Africa, and then in Rishikesh. This has also been issued complete as a one volume edition published by the State University Press of New York. Swami Venkatesananda gathered the text together, and formed it into a daily reading covering a two year period. The USA edition has omitted the daily reading format, so it reads as continuous text. The edition noted above by Peter is a one volume abridged version published in Perth, Australia. Vasistha is one of the seven great Rishis, the progenitors of mankind, as mentioned in the Bhagavad-Gita 10:6. The Yoga Vasistha is most pure and direct Advaita Vedanta (non-dualism). The Swami Venkatesananda translation is very readable, and thoroughly nourishing.
