Guest guest
Generally there is wrong opinion prevailing among the aspirants that the length of the time they remain in Dhyana - the number of seconds or minutes they remain without thought, i.e. duration of their sitting in Samadhi - is the criterian to measure their progress in sadhana. This is incorrect, because all these are only Laya (temporary absorption of mind). Though one is able to remain in the mood of meditation (nirvakalpa samadhi) for a number of years, one may come out again with all the previous desires and vasanas. A thorough and permanent change of outlook - clarity in buddhi, i.e. the Dawn of the correct knowledge of what we really are - alone is what is expected by the Guru as a result of self enquiry. Unless and until it takes place in one, there is no use of keeping one's mind quiet in meditation for a long time. The purpose of attending to Self-I - is to have the right knowledge of what we really are. When one so attends to one's nature which is BEING the attending one will dissolve in IT, losing one's individuality. Here losing one's individuality means not merely forgetting the surroundings and body but the great change of outlook (by the in look!) taking place there, i.e. then one can no more again feel "I am Sankaran". Till this is achieved, please do not be impatient. Repeated Self-attention is necessary and whenever you happen to come out again from your formal sadhana time as Sankaran, pray to him to fulfil your hearty desire of dissolving in Him. Thus Self-attention during the time of your formal sadhana and self-surrender at other times go on together in your life. Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.
