Guest guest
Dear Richard, The word 'mana'translated as 'marital' does not seem to be appropriate. Please let us have any commentary or explation if originally provided by Dr. Ramamoorty. This refers to verse 17 of Ramana Sahasram Om namah Ramanay --- Richard Clarke <rclarke wrote: > > 17. Guest guest
Dear Narayan, I cannot give you any comment. Dr. Ramamoorthy has gone to maha samadhi. These are his writings and his translations. Dr. Ramamoorthy was highly skilled in Sanscrit and Tamil. He worked with Nome of SAT for a number of years tranlating sacred texts. Several have been published. These include The Ribhu Gita (Sanskrit Ribhu Gita) Song of Ribhu (Tamil Ribhu Gita) Svatmanirupanam The True Definition of One's Own Self, by Adi Sankara So I am sure that he had a reason, I just do not know what it was. Guest guest
Sorry for the delay in response, I have been away. Tamil word 'maNam' - marriage. Sanskrit root 'man' - which can have the sense of 'set one's heart or mind on anyone." Dr Ramamoorthy has of course been heavily influenced by that wonderful example of 'bridal mysticism' - akshara maNa malai - "This joyful Marital Garland of Letters which resembles a beam of the rays of the rising sun was sung by the noble Sage Ramana, the ocean of compassion, with the object of removing the delusion of the devotees who sought his grace." (from Collected Works, available as PDF download from www.ramana-maharshi.org) I trust this helps.
