Guest guest
Dear Usha Sastry, Never a need to be sorry for such a question. First this is from a very old teaching, from Adi Sankara: "Listen (or read), Contemplate, Deeply Meditate" is how to approach spiritual teaching. Contemplation is deep mental consideration. Meditation is looking within your self to see what is real and true for you of that which was contemplated. If I were approaching this with comtemplation, I might try to see what it means. What does it mean that Ramana (or anyone or even for me) to be unequalled? Does it mean that there is none better? Does it mean that there are no others that can be different? Based on what you know of Ramana's life, what did Ramana think? Did he think he was better than others? Did he think that there were others? Then after contemplating, to meditate, one looks within for the truth of the comptemplation within oneself. Here it might be something like, "Do I think I am better (or worse) than others? What identity do I assume when I think that? Who am I really? Am I that limited identity? Who knows that identity? Who am I, then? AM I the identity or the one who knows the identity? Here one starts with a thought. If one dives deep, one arrives where thoughts are no longer. But one is still aware. Who is it the is aware? And who are you? Maybe some of this will be of assistance. I need some more in detail for practicing. Sorry for the question. I do verbal and mental chant always. Usha sastry --- Richard Clarke <rclarke wrote: > 33. Om atulaya ramanaya namah > > Om!
