Guest guest
Hi Everybody, I was going thru the book called "vivekachudamani" believed to be written by Adi Shanakara himself. In this, he explains the different kosha's or (sutle bodies) which could be conceived as 'I', which are not the real 'I'. 1. Annamaya Kosha - Here 'anna' means food; a sutle body which surives on the food. It is the gross body thru which we interact. It is not the self. 2. Pranamaya kosha - Here 'prana' means life giving breath; another sutle body which is responsible for the senses to work and the food consumed by annamaya kosha to digest and excrete. This too is not the 'I'. 3. Manomaya kosha - Here 'mano' means mind; another sutle body which is responsible for thoughts when the parana activates the senses and interacts with the world. This too is not the 'I'. 4. Vignanamaya kosha - Here 'vignana' refers to intellect; another sutle dody responsible for making the decisions amongst vast thoughts rising in the manomaya kosha. This too is not the 'I'. 5. Anandamaya kosha - Here 'Ananda' means happiness; another suttle state eperienced when things go as planned and you are just happy as things are; This too is not the 'I'. This is so true. We all say, tts "my body", "my prana", "my mind", "my intellect" and "my happiness or I am happy"; these are all therefore not me; but the once seen by me, no matter how sutle they are. Me, myself is the ever witnessing self. So our FALSE 'I' can rise in any of these sutle states and take us away from our true self of being a standing witnesss. Beware!! and lets keep enquiring "Who am I?" when every you get consiously aware of this false 'I'. Thanks to lord Ramana, who made me aware of these FALSE 'I'. I pray him to continue to provide this inner support until I abide in his vast silence. Om Namo Bagavathe Shri Ramanaya.
