Guest guest
Greetings all, Thought you might enjoy a funny (at least to me) news item that reminded me of a story Bhagavan occasionally told. The gist of Bhagavan's story is that two young men from a village travelled far way. Sadly, one of the young men died. Word got back to both young men's families about the situation. Unfortunately, each family was misinformed about who had died! So, the parents of the young man who had died thought he was still alive and were happy, and the parents of the young man who was still alive thought he was dead and mourned greatly. Eventually the truth came out when the young man presumed dead returned home. His family was of course very happy and the other family was devestated. The moral of the story is happiness and sorrow are in the mind. So, today I was came across this news article: "Dead man" Walking Sends Village Into Panic at http://news./s/nm/20060117/od_nm/india_ghost_dc;_ylt=AgdMt5aaEpkUWzdUMG\ bhQAes0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3NW1oMDRpBHNlYwM3NTc- Here is the text of the article... =========== NEW DELHI (Reuters) - An Indian man who was believed dead caused panic when he returned, causing villagers to think he had come back as a ghost, the Times of India reported Monday. Children screamed "Ghost! Ghost!" and villagers locked their doors when Raju Raghuvanshi returned from jail earlier this month to his village in Mandla district in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. Raghuvanshi's brothers, who had shaved their heads to mourn his death in line with Hindu tradition, fled when he appeared, the paper reported. Villagers and family members have ostracized him, forcing Raghuvanshi to file a complaint with local police. The village council has demanded he prove he is not a ghost, but the paper did not say what kind of proof the elders wanted. Raghuvanshi's troubles arose after he was jailed last year. In prison, he was admitted to hospital with a stomach ailment from which he recovered but a distant relative told his family he had died. =========== :-) David M. -- _____________ Search for businesses by name, location, or phone number. -Lycos Yellow Pages http://r.lycos.com/r/yp_emailfooter/http://yellowpages.lycos.com/default.asp?SRC\ =lycos10
