Guest guest
Hello, Two weeks ago a d to this RamanaMaharshi Group and have enjoyed reading the posts and quotes. My name is Alzira and I live in Cabo Frio (*Cape Cold*) , at the Northern coast of Rio de Janeiro State, in Brazil. I *met* Sri Ramana Maharshi in the year of 2000 when I bought David Godman's *Be as You Are*, a compilation of Sri Ramana Teachings. Since then I regard this great sage with great love and respect. To me his words are a permanent source of inspiration in my spiritual path toward the Truth. Researching the www, I have come across many works by and about the Bhagavan and Advaita Vedanta. Currently I am reading *Maha Yoga*, from wich you quoted a part of the chapter six - The Soul. Recently I read *The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali* translated and commented by Charles Johnston). *Maha Yoga* however is a real treasury! It makes a sumary of Advaita Vedanta in general and Ramana Maharshi's thought in particular, in a clear and passionate way. I know that the Path can not be walked only intelectually, but living in a small city it's hard for me to find a place to learn from other people's experiences and/or share impressions and feelings. That's why I've d to this List. Thank you. Namaste Alzira Brings words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Mail. Guest guest
Arunachala Shiva! I happened to accompany my mother in 1951( I was 17 yrs old then) when she visited Ramana Ashram. My knowledge of his teachings were very elementary at that time. Sitting in front of him with my eyes closed, I could feel the presence of a great saint and without my being conscious , tears came streaming. I am now 72years old and I still remember those blissful moments in my life. I visit Ramana Ashram and go round the hill occasionally. His presence is felt by all those who sit in the meditation hall there. I have a picture of the Arunachala Sage in a frame in my meditation room at home. I suppose it's the most well known photograph of him and my favorite. Portraits him with grey/white hair and beard.
