Guest guest
Dear Friends, Our Gabriele Ebert, affectionately known to many of us as 'tangai', has been serialising the Ramana Maharshi story in our acalayoga forum. The book, entitled "Ramana Maharshi — Sein Leben", which was published in 2003 in German, has since been translated into excellent English by Sri Victor Ward. This volume does not replace the hallowed "Ramana Maharshi and the Path of Self-Knowledge" by the much-loved Arthur Osborne, but rather it invigorates it. Since Arthur's death in May 1970, new material has surfaced, and thanks to the focussed efforts of our Sri V. Ganesan, who is well-known to many of us, more stories have come to light. In fact through his unstinting efforts, our bank of hallowed Ramana stories is thereby so much enriched! I remember so well how in the 1960's my spiritual search seemed so pointless, until one day Arthur's book landed on my desk. As the leaves were turned, the perfume of Arunachala billowed out from the pages, and I was hopelessly snatched away from the world by Sri Bhagavan. That flavour has never left, and has indeed continued throughout all these years. As the years rolled on, there was some disappointment at some of the subsequent material which appeared, as it seemed dry, turgid and lifeless, and it seemed that nothing could ever replace the Arthur Osborne Biography, and his equally-loved "The Teachings of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi in His Own Words". Now it is a pleasant surprise that the flavour is flowing back again, thanks to the unstinting efforts of our tangai, who has gathered much new material, and also included fresh and lavish photographs for display in the forum.
