Indeed.

Sankrit has long and short vowels.

Long 'a' represented by 'aa' or 'A'

Long 'i' represented by 'ii' or 'I', and so on.

 

As well as dental and retroflex 't'

represented by 't' and 'T',

the same with most other consonants. For a transliteration to be

accurate, we need a means of showing these differences.

But this is not indicated in the posts here.
