Guest guest
My (bad) response has been to cut myself off from most people since i cannot handle questions that revolve around the concept of "I" and doership. There is a constant dread of meeting people who will ask questions. I too seek advice from experienced members of this group, on handling society/this situation. No doubt at these times I enquire as to who is feeling afraid, who is feeling his pride will be hurt by others questions etc. Often i pray that the Master will help out when such situations happen, and try to put the burden on Him. But i deeply empathise with cristimard. Fri, 21 Apr 2006 05:49:34 -0000 "cristimard" < cristimard >Question for group.<snip>Anyway, what is important is what to do now? Should I pretend to besomebody else just to please people around me or should I do what I feel, and that is to let things happen and not worry? Guest guest
Quoting Ananda Natana <oneness.univ: *********** In the last year or so, as the sense of doership (I am the doer) weakens, as the concept of "I" weakens, (in addition to what cristimard has said), I too have faced the same problems, and it has been stressful. **************** True. This period can be very stressful and it is my experience also. However, the mind called Atanu has realised that the stress is due to various unresolved desires attached to the ego called Atanu. Also, during the enquiry, I feel, the hidden desires/weaknesses come up with full force. But surely, Ramana is carrying the load. He is the real entity beneath the illusory mind that creates and imagines all sorts of trouble. Moreover, Hindus have the benefit of remembering that the poison dredged out during the search for immortal self is consumed by Shiva. There is nothing to worry except to have patience and continue with the practice to one's best ablity. Same is the case with Christians also, since Christ has promised to carry the cross. Participation in such a group is Rama's grace and a great help. Namo Ramana. Please carry our burdens. ------------------------------- This message was sent using NWebmail, BSNL's Webmail Program

I don't have to speak. People are accustomed to controlling us through questions. Just relax. It passes. -- Is this an attitude of "the outer world is dangerous to us devotees?" Seems to go against the fact that we are directly created by Omnipotence. If we present folks with silence instead of concepts, it may come off as spiritual pride, pure snobbery, and they might think that our personalities are proofs of a "shallowness of the truth-we're-peddling." Do so if you want to, because, well, that's karma, but from my side, I want to communicate with others despite the risks. As long as we're deluded into thinking we're "bodies," don't we have the responsibility to help "others" come to understanding? Is there no room for secular promotions of religious intent? Is our "diving into concepts" such a sin -- if by doing so we spread the message? It takes a thorn to remove a thorn? Can we give people concepts that get them to a place where they can imagine wanting to get out of the concept business altogether? I have always found Ramana Maharishi to be the epitome of patience. Compare his answers to Nisargadatta Maharaj's challenging tone. Ramana Maharishi compassion for "others" cannot be gainsaid. In no way was Ramana Maharishi being controlled by the questioners, right? Again, just because I'm immersed in duality, it doesn't mean I can't "parrot concepts" to the best of my ability until I free myself of egoic limitations. I am driven to help -- for me to remain silent is like asking the villagers to not raise their sticks to help Krisna hold the mountain over their heads. I may mislead others, because I just don't know what I'm talking about -- in fact, it cannot be talked about -- but the bottom line is that my stumble-bum attempts do have one shining virtue: they put attention on Ramana Maharishi -- his words, his image -- doesn't matter -- it's spiritual therapy. Just one glance at his visage is a seed that may take root in another -- what matter it if I have thrown that seed rudely or handled that seed without honoring its sacredness? There simply cannot be anything wrong with suggesting to others to put their attention on Ramana Maharishi. As long as I think I am "responsible for my actions as a character in a dream," well, I might as well go along with the delusion and try to be a good character, right? Krisna never yelled at the villagers to stop using their sticks! Edg Religion and spirituality Ramana maharshi Visit your group " RamanaMaharshi" on the web.
