Beef extract in Mac fries is not the only hidden >non-vegetarian component that we encounter. It is a fact that in most >Chinese joints, the cooking medium is pork oil. When eating outside, it is a good idea to prefer Kosher restaurants. But, the best way seems to be cooking and eating at home. However, even there, we could better our food in some respects. One way is to use Organic Milk. While it might sound a bit of an overkill, it should in fact be an important policy decision with regard to our food habits. Organic milk is obtained without using harmones (which, as I had mentioned in my previous posting, could cause cancer in cows), meat products in cattle feed and other chemicals. Cows in Organic Farms are treated well and the important thing is that they are certified so. And what's more, Organic milk tastier (we use it at home) and should go well with people who used to have cow's milk in India. Using Organic Milk encourages people who treat cows with affection. It might cost more than ordinary milk. But then, isn't keeping our conscience clean Priceless?
