Dear Bhagavathaas,

AdiyEn's two cents on the ongoing discussions on the NY

tragedy and observations like"God can only love, he ought to love in terms of

preventing diasters too....etc".

Trying to understand God based on a few vAkyam from Sri Bhagavad Geetha or

selective reading of Shruthis/PramAnas is very very difficult, and more

importantly trying to apply that understanding to justify events is even more

difficult, especially when acts of Anaathi Karma of ours, leave alone others, is

unknown to us, but known to the supreme. Also we are living in Leela Viboothi,

where Bhagavan's Leela(especially natural diasters like floods, drought,

earthquakes, volcanos, epidemic) is not so easy to be fathomed(that reminds

AdiyEn, often we do not notice the things that make us happy, which also happen

only by Bhagavad Sankalpam/KatAksham).

So as several Bhagavathaas pleaded, we can pray the Divya Dhampathis for global

welfare, in times like this("LOkA Samastha SukinO BhavanthU").

For those who really want to understand God, our relationship to him/other

entities and how to reach him, the easy recourse is to seek-understand-follow a

Sri Vaishnava Acharya and undergo Pancha Samskaaram, learn at his feet the great

works(Rahasya, KAlakshEpa) like Sri Bhashya, Sri VEdartha Sangraham, Srimad

Rahasya Traya Saaram, Chillarai Rahasyam etc and develop our understanding and

this would lead us to happiness on earth and eternal happiness, by our act of

SaranAgathi(Prapathi or Bhaara Nyaasam).

Respected Bhaktas,

It is my opinion that if God can only love, he ought

to love in terms of preventing disasters too. Since

God cannot tolerate any kind of aggression towards his

Bhaktas(paritraanaaya saadhoonaam....)and .........

Dear friends,

I have been reading the many mails that have appeared on this thread

for the past few days. I'd like to make a clarification.

My first mail on this subject was in specific reply to Sri.Malolan

Cadambi's e-mail asking for views on "fate, free-will and

bhagavath-sankalpam". Both Sri.Malolan's poser and adiyane's response

to him were posted many days before the tragic events of New York

overtook us all. As such my views on the subject have nothing to do

with recent unfortunate incidents.

In my post I tried to illustrate how a study into the 'puranic'

character of Kunti in the Mahabharata can give us valuable clues to

the roles Fate, Free-will and bhagavath-sankalpam each play in a

'jIvA's' time on earth.

Adiyane has really no views at all with regard to how the subject of

Sri.Malolan's queries is in any way related to the tragedy and terror

of New York last week... except, perhaps, if you will allow me, to

say that in catastrophic moments in life such as the present one, it

would be far better for us to discuss practical and kind things we

could all do, offer or volunteer to help/console the unfortunate

victims, instead of discussing fine points of scripture and

philosophy.

I think there is a proper time and place for everything in life...

even if it's something as worthy and lofty as trying to read God's

own mind or "bhagavath-sankalpam"... and this is not really the time

for it, adiyane would think.

Thanks and regards,

dAsan,

Sudarshan
