Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: My 2 cents worth on the subject RAHU: Rahu is deemed " the ascending node"in astronomy. He was the son of Viprachitti and Sinhika He is called by his metronymic "Sainhikeya". He is also called "Abra- Pisaacha"(the demon of the sky), "Bharani- bhu" (born from the asterism Bharani), "Graha", (the seizer) and "Kabandha" (the headless). KETU: Ketu is deemed "the descending node" in astronomy, represented by a dragon's tail. He is a danava and the son of Vipaschitti and Sinhika. He is also called "A-kacha" (hairless), "Aslesha-bhava" (cut offf) and "Munda" (bald) He is the same son of Vipaschitti and Sinhika whose head and body were cut off during the distribution of Amrutham, the head part denoting the ascending node of Rahu and the lower part representing the "the descending mode" of Ketu - but both remaining alive due to ingesting of amrutham, although stealthily! You may just adopt the names "Rahu" and "Ketu" respectively.
