Report on ThiruppAvai competition for children:

 

As informed earlier, per the divine command of His Holiness Srimath

ParavakkOttai Andavan Swamy, Sri C Seshadri Swamin of Chennai has been

organizing lot of kaimkaryams. One such is the teaching of sthOthras and

pAsurams for children. Also tests are conducted and awards given away to

children for encouragement.

 

For the second consecutive year, the ThiruppAvai tests were conducted at two

places (Ashok nagar and T Nagar) on 12 Jan. It is going to be held soon at

other places soon. Last year, out of 21 students particpiated, none could

complete all 30 Pasurams.

 

This year out of 43 students participated, 13 students recited fully

ThiruppallANdu, ThirupPAvai, Thiruppalliyezhucchi, KaNNinunchiRutthaambhu,

Amalandhipiran. Out of them 3 boys Chi Ranganathan (3-1/2 years old), Chi

Rangasayi (5 years old), and Chi Srinath (5-1/2) flawlessly and won first

prize. Those who recited three prabandhams were 14 in number. Few recited

only some pAsurams of ThiruppAVai. Everone got a certificate blessed by His

Holiness and given by Sri U Ve Purisai Swamy.

 

On the 19th again, at Sri Hayagriva temple, Nanganallur, the test was

conducted. 63 students participated. And 15 students recited all five

prabhandhas and were awarded a silver glass (tumbler). 21 students recited

all 30 Pasurams of ThiruppAVai and were given Naacchiyar Kudam. Everyone got

the certificate blessed by His Holiness and given by Sri U Ve

SrivathsangAchAr Swamy. On 26th the next test is going to be conducted at

Mambalam.
