Guest guest
Has the subject line been discussed here before. I am attempting a self study of Kamban and Divya Prabhandam simultaneously (people here probably would think I am nuts; I probably am). I find a lot of phrases in Kamban (one example is kondal vannan in Ayodhya Kandam to refer to our Lord by Kamban and Thirupaanar) taken directly from paasurams. I am sure someone has made a scholarly study of this. Could someone kindly point me to some relevant material. I do not post much but will be following the replies with interest. Thanks much in advance. -Srikanth ============ Dear friend: This is a wonderful idea. You need not feel hesitant about posting articles on the subject, even if it had been attempted by someone before. You are most welcome. Please bless us with your insights rightaway posting them exclusively to "Sri Ranga Sri". In fact, having been inspired by "Ramapiranai Karpom" - a unique book by H.H. Srimad Andavan of Poundarikapuram Swami Ashramam, SriRangam, I acquired a full set of 9 volumes containing the complete text in original of Kamba Ramayanam (upto Yuddha Khandam) when I visited Chennai recently. I have covered reading Bala Khandam and Ayodhya Kahandam so far. Though I have read this epic before during my student days, I feel that every time one reads it, newer and newer interpretations occur to the mind in an endless stream of pleasant experience and one will be amazed at how Kamban and Azhwars speak in in one voice. I was myself thinking of starting a series on the lines indicated by you but only after completing the full text. This might take a long time, though. Meanwhile, you may kindly commence posting. I am sure that members of "Sri Ranga Sri" will be happy to read the same. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy Editor & Publisher "Sri Ranga Sri"
