Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: Several Bhagavatas have raised a question whether Sri Jayanthi is to be celebrated today (Friday) or on Saturday (tomorrow) As per the Note attached to the Panchanga Sangraham in Nrisimhapriya, July 2002, since AshTami and ROhiNi are together at the time of moonrise tonight, Munitraya Vaikanasa Sri Jayanti should be celebrated today only and not on Saturday. The stipulation in 28 # panchangam that it should be celebrated on Saturday seems to be incorrect, says the note. Sri Sannidhi, however, celebrates tomorrow, as per the same Panchanga Sangraham. Guest guest
namo narayana! Sri Nrisimha Priya Panjanga Sangaraham is determined only for India. We must not simply follow it if we live elsewhere. We do our pradha sandya vandhanam at sun rise at our place of residence, not when sun rises in India. Similarly, we have to determine the thithi/star at the time of LOCAL sun rise and determine when to celebrate functions and when to observe rituals. For Munithraiyam, Sri Jayanthi must be observed on the day when there is an intersection of Rohini and Ashtami even for one vinAdi. For USA this occurs on Saturday. Therefore, Munithraiya Sri Jayanti must be observed only on Saturday here in the U.S. The rules for determination of Sri Sanndihi Sri Jayanthi is more complicated. However, when properly determined for the U.S., Sri Sannidhi sishyas in the U.S. must also observe Sri Jayanthi on Saturday. The rules for determination of Sri Jayanthi and other vaideeka observances are explained in the Ahnika grantham of Srimad Azhagiya Singar written in His poorvasramam. -- dileepan , "Ram Anbil" <Ramanbil@h...> wrote: > As per the Note attached to the Panchanga Sangraham in Nrisimhapriya, July > 2002, since AshTami and ROhiNi are together at the time of moonrise tonight, > Munitraya Vaikanasa Sri Jayanti should be celebrated today only and not on > Saturday.
