He became the Andavan of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam in 1932 after Nammandavan Srimath Vedantha Ramanuja Mahadesikan and was in Sanyasa Ashramam until 1947. He had the same acharya thirunamam as our Periyaandavan and was very much like Periyandavan in Gnaana, vairagya, anushtaana and shanthi souseelya nidhi nature. His sanchaaram during the 15 year period from 1932 was all paadha sancharaam. This mahan covered Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Thirupathi through His paadha sancharaam and spread Munithraya ashrama sampradyaa. His Bridhavanam is in Srirangam. Srimath Thirukkudanthai Andavan in His poorvashramam attended the Kalakshebam of Sri Bhashyam, Gita Bashyam and various other granthams by Srimath Aakkur Andavan. He had his Atma Raksha Bhara samarppanam with Thirukkudanthai Aaravamudham. He was a pracharya for prakrutham Srimushan Srimad Andavan and for many other Andavan sishyaas. Srimath Akkur Andavan had the special kataksham of Nammandavan by Completing the Padhuka sahasra vyaakyanam which was initiated by Srimath Nammaandavan. Every Ramanuja sampradya follower had bhakti and reverence towards Akkur Andavan and everyone affectionately called him "Engal Andavan" meaning "He is our Andavan". A saantha swaroopi, and just by thinking about Him, people acquired mental peace. Once Akkur Andavan had to undergo a surgery to remove a cist from his chest. He did not take any pain killing medicine or anesthesia for the procedure. He performed Srimath Ramayana sloka paraayana anusanthaanam and was immersed in the Ramayana rasaaanubhavam forgetting his physical pain during the surgical process. Aakkur Andavan was an acharyan who could make anyone immerse in his laden vedhanthic and philosophical lectures. He was very modest in the way he lived. These are the excerpts from a compilation from Naatteri Sri Rajagopalan published in Sri Ranganatha Padhuka in October 2000 issue. In the next few digests, adiyen will try to compile similar excerpts from the compilations of Sri U.Ve Saranathaachariyar swamin, which was published during the Shastiabdha poorthi celebrations of our Srimath Akkur Andavan.
