Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: As you all know,an Advisory Board of consultants for "Sri Ranga Sri" has been formed. All the Yathisreshtas, Acharyas and Vidwans of "Bhagavad Ramanuja- Swami Desika Satsampradayam" adorn the board and they will be closely monitoring the quality and content of the Journal. And, we have received feedback requesting us to avoid repititive postings that appear in other sites. Therefore, it is necessary for us to regulate the nature of postings that can and cannot be allowed both within the journal and outside the journal proper. This has been engaging our attention for quite some time and that is the reason why we have not been able to approve many of the postings received. We wish to reiterate the Note to Contributors already circulated on 9th March 2002, as a reminder. Contributors are requested to take note of the guidelines contained in the Note herein and do the needful. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy ============================================================== Dear Bhagavatas: Your kind attention is invited to the “ Note to Contributors” in Message # 1044 dated 2nd February 2002 of “Sri Ranga Sri” archives. As indicated while launching the Journal on 8th October 2000 (Swami Desika’s Tirunakshatram day), “Sri Ranga Sri” is meant to be a JOURNAL “ The new journal will feature high quality articles from AchAryas and eminent scholars on the tenets of our Siddhantham. Besides general topics relating to our Sampradayam, special sections will be devoted to the “Grantha ChathushTayams” under the titles – - “SriBaashayaaamrutham”; - “Gitaamrutham” - “Prabandaamrutham” and - “Desikaamrutham” (Vide Vol.1 Issue Vol.1-Message # 001) We reiterate that this is NOT a discussion group or a forum for debates and display of personal opinions. However, postings from members were approved only by way of encouraging “Reader participation”. We have received numerous complaints that innumerable such individual postings, debates and discussions not germane to the focus of the journal, defeat the very objective of “Sri Ranga Sri” - being a journal. We are, therefore, reluctantly compelled to stop all discussions except those on matters relevant to the published articles in the “Regular Issues” of the journal. We fully endorse the guidelines announced by Sri Mani Varadarajan for the Bhakti list in creating separate sites for accommodating specific issues. Contributors to “Sri Ranga Sri” are advised to avail of these forums. We would like to adopt for “Sri Ranga Sri”, a few of the salutary restrictions he has outlined Viz. - - No general questions. Please move these to one of the other forums. - No personal attacks - No emotional outbursts - No messages of a purely personal nature, including compliments - No advertising of any form - No self-promotion of any form - No announcements of a regional nature - No politics of any kind - No "current events" postings" Only quality articles intended “Exclusively”, we repeat “Exclusively”, for publication in the “Regular issues” of “Sri Ranga Sri” and which are consistent with the following mission statement of the journal will be entertained: “This is a group of "Swami Desika Darsana Satsangam “(SDDS) for studying Sri Vaishnava - Visishtaadvaita philosophy and practices as laid down by Azwars and as clarified by Acharyas of *Bhagavad Ramanuja - Swami Desika Sath Sampradayam*. Articles and discussions are welcome subject to the general norms of tolerance and mutual respect *within the realms of the above philosophy and practices*” If suitable, they will be published with minimal editing. Contributors are requested NOT to post to “Sri Ranga Sri” copycat versions of the same materials submitted to other lists, to avoid cluttering the mailboxes of over 1200 members from all over the world. The following are however exempted, as a temporary measure and “purely as a matter of information” to the readers: - Announcements like Tele-Upanyasams by Yathivaras, Acharyas and Scholars of "Bhagavad Ramanuja - Swami Desika Sath Sampradayam" that deal with the enjoyment of the Gunanubhavam of Divya Dhampathis (and NOT polemics on “doctrinal differences” etc. between the various streams of philosophy). - Other announcements regarding - Books published, Web sites created, Audio Cassettes and CDs brought out from time to time, special events etc. provided they are consistent with the objectives indicated in the mission statement of the journal. - Appeals for funds for various kainkaryams may be posted ONLY AFTER MAKING SURE of the genuineness of the prime movers / administrators and after providing an assurance of personal responsibility for having done this. Before posting any such appeals, it may be ensured that proper arrangements exist for - (i) Officially acknowledging receipt of contributions (ii) Utilization of the funds fully and precisely for the purposes for which they are proposed to be mobilized through these appeals and (iii) Adequate audit and accounting to the entire satisfaction of the donors. Otherwise, we will be seen as encouraging indiscriminate fund-raising appeals and also become liable for any potential legal action later on, given the conduct of numerous trusts that have mushroomed and disappeared with the collections. - Warnings regarding Computer virus etc. and such other precautions to alert the readers from being trapped into scams. Queries and doubts requiring authoritative answers / clarifications on the principles and practices of Bhagavad Ramanuja - Swami Desika Sampradayam -(to be provided or obtained from Acharyas and Scholars) may be sent to Ramanbil and NOT to the address. For this purpose, we have provided the following: A “QUESTION BOX” to which readers may address doubts and queries. For those questions for which we are not able to provide ready answers, we will secure and make available authoritative replies from AchAryas back home. A ”QUIZ PROGRAM”: By way of “Reader participation”, readers may be initially requested to provide answers for the queries posed by us. The best or the correct answers will be published in a subsequent issue.” It is reiterated that all communications on the above may be sent ONLY to Ramanbil and NOT to the address. Though the above guidelines take effect immediately, the policy will be reviewed and revised at the discretion of the Editor. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
