Swamy Desikan's Prabhandhams on Lord DhaivanAyakan ***************************************************** On this Iypaasi Sukla Paksha DwAdasi day , it is appropriate to focus on Swamy Desikan's limitless EedupAdu ( devout engagement) with the anubhavam of the dhivya Soundharyam and anantha kalyANa guNams of Lord DhaivanAyakan as a part of this series saluting the multifacetted gnius of our AchArya Saaravbhouman , Swamy Desikan. The lsit of ThiruvahIndhra Puram SrI Sookthis ********************************************** The tenth Paasuram of Nava MaNi Maalai summarizes the many SrI Sookthis constructed by Swamy Desikan for arpaNam at the divine Thiruvadi of SrI DhiavanAyakan: antham-il seer Ayindhai nahar amarntha Naatan adiyiNai mEl adi urayAl iympathu yEtthi chinthai kavar pirAkirutha nooRu kooRic- chezhum Tamizh MummaNikkOvai seRiyac-chErtthup- paravu Nava MaNI maalai ivayum sonnEn munthai MaRai mozhiya vazhi mozhi Nee yenRu Mukundhan aruL tantha payan peRREn naanE Extended meanings of the Tenth Paasuram ***************************************** In this sum-up paasuram of Nava MaNi Maalai, Swamy Desikan celebrates the Naama of Mukundhan for SrI DhaivanAyakan. The sacred name of Mukundhan refers to BhOga-Moksha Daayaka anugraham of SrI DhiavanAyakan. He is the One , who can confer readily the ParipoorNa BhOgam of enjoyment of Him even as in His SrI Vaikuntam right here at Thiru Ayinndhai. Swamy reveals that he was blessed to have this greatst of anubhavams in this world itself. Swamy Desikan acknowledges that Lord DhiavanAyakan of matchless yasas and vaibhavam commanded him to create the many sthOthrams on Him , which contain the quinessence of vedAs. Swamy Desikan states further that he placed the command of SrI DhaivanAyakan on his head with reverence and created SrI DevanAyaka PanchAsath in Sanskrit , the mother of all languages, Achyutha sathakam in enchanting PrAkrutham , the lisp of Sarasvathi Devi , MummaNikkOvai, Panthu, Kazhal, Oosal, yEsal , ammAnai and NavamaNi Maalai as Prabhandhams in the rich language of Tamizh. Additional Comments on the tenth Paasuram ****************************************** The limitless Vaibhavam of SrI DevanAyakan is saluted as "antham il seer" . Those "seer" (perumai) is anantham (antham il). That Lord is seated in Thiru Ayindhai ( Ayindhai Nahar amarntha Naatan). The sthothrams in sanskrit , PrAkrutham and Tamizh are about His glorious pair of sacred feet ( Ayindhai nahar amarntha NaaTan adi iNai mEl). The first of these sthothrams is in Sanskrit (Mother of all languages: adi urai) consisting of 50 salutory slOkams ( Iympathu yEtthi) ; Next is the 100 slOkams in the bewitching language of PrAkrutham (Chinthai kavar prAkrutham nooRu kooRi) ; The above are followed by prabhandhams in the nourishing and rich Tamizh language ( Sezhum Tamizh ) : MummaNikkOvai, Panthu , Kazhal, ammAnai, Oosal, yesal and NavamaNi Maalai . (Among these Tamizh Prabhandhams) Panthu, Kazhal, yesal, ammAnai as well as the 20 of the 30 paasurams of MummaNikkovai are lost to posterity due to our misfortune). Swamy Desikan says here that all of these SrI Sookthis are a direct response to Lord DhaivnAyakan's (Mukundhan's) command to create them as the condensed essence of the ancient VrdAs ( Munthia maRai mozhiya nee vazhi mozhi ). Swamy Desikan acknowledgs at the final slOkam of Nava maNI Maalai that all of these prabhandha nirmANa kaimkaryam are a direct result of the grace of Mukundha DEvanATan of Thiru Ayindhai. adiyEn will cover the above SrI Sookthis as a part of the RathnAngi Kaimkaryam for SrI Taranga Mukha Nandini ThAyar SamEtha SrI DhaivnAyaka PerumAL of ThiruvEndhipuram. adiyEn will start in the order prescribed by Swamy Desikan and focus on SrI DhaivanAyaka PanchAsath slOkams first in this series.
