Guest guest
Sri Dear Members, There were some discussions going on about Varnam(caste). Here is an interesting paasuram from Thodar-adi-podi Azhwar. Credits to Smt. Sumitra Varadarajan. "pazhuthilA ozhughalAttru palasadu pEdhimArgal! ezhikulaththavargalElum emmadiyArgalAgil thozhumineer kodumin konmin endru ninnOdum okka vazhipada arulinAi pOl madhil thiruvarangaththAnE!" (Thirumaalai - 42) Translation: "God in the fort of Srirangam said as follows: "Oh men! Descended from Brahma, who are free from all mistakes and who are well versed in Vedas! People who are my real devotees must be treated with respect by you even if they are of low birth; teach them things that you know and learn from things that they know." Saying thus you seem to have ordained to treat your devotees as your equals and show them respect accordingly."
