Guest guest
It is the humble opinion of this ignorant writer whose hand is guided by the Divya Dampathis that fear or hesitation of the mind should not come in the way of wearing the Lords symbols. Be it a movie or office or a meat-eating-liquor party. it does not matter. Your personal (inner- of fhe heart and not the mind) decision is important. These activities i.e. movies, TV, meat-eating party etc. are all created by humans while the Lord is above all these. These are not ever likely to impact HIS glory in any way. HE is What HE IS. So first banish worry and undue concern in this matter. However, having said this, if there is a slightest danger or problem likely to happen to you, your family and to your basic circumstances (food, clothing, housing, career, job, education etc.) then appropriate compromises may be considered. For example, the writer was with a French bank of repute years back when the head who was an European had a colonial mentality. He openly asked the writer not to wear the Vibhuti or Chandanam on his forehead and clearly told that this could cause a damage to the reputation and image of the Bank !!!. Utter stupidity but then he was the man who was signing the paycheck. Being out of job is not a nice situation to be in. An evil boss is better than being on dole. The writer had to compromise. Such dharma-sankatam may come often. It is not scorn, but at times the weight of power which can throttle our divine desires. Or take the case of certain social circumstances in remote villages, even now in India. The very sporting of the Tirumanam or Vibhuti is misunderstandinglyh percieved as a proclamation of ' exclusivness' of the upper caste and in places where there predominence of a less illitrate, poor class they openly show animosity. Others before us might have exploited these people but their combined anger will be on any 'educated-symbol-wearing' Brahmin and so on. This also the writer has experienced in some south Indian remote towns. In such cases, it is prudent NOT to wear the marks. Lastly, whether you wear or do not wear or are prevented to wear etc. the best and highest form of absolving factor has already been taken into account thousands of years back by the Vedas. The Vedas have given us the Sandhyavandanam which includes in the initial part a 'confession-cum-pardon seeking' routine to the Sun to burn out the misdeeds and errors of body, mind, heart and speech. This is done thrice. If you stick to this IRRESPECTIVE then in the privacy of your rooms, you would have achieved the same effect you achieve by wearing the Tirumanam/Vibhuti or Kumkum.
