Sapthathi of HH Sri Abhinava Vagheesa Swami, the 36th Jeer of Sri Parakala Mutt

Dear Bhagavathas,

The 36th Jeer of Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Sri Parakalaswami Mutt graced the

69th Thirunakshatram celebrations of HH Srimad Srimushnam Andavan held at our

Chennai Asramam on the 2nd June 2003.On that occasion HH Srimad Andavan reminded

us that the Sapthathi of the Jeer of Parakala Mutt falls on Chithirai Revathi

2004 and advised us that we should stand shoulder to shoulder with the Sishyas

and Abhimanis of the Matam in conducting these celebrations in a fitting manner.

This subject was broached to HH. With His characteristic humility, HH mentioned

that He was more interested in planning the 121st Thirunakshatram (the second

Sashtiabdapoorthi) of HH Peria Parakala Swami, the 34th Jeer falling on Aadi

Punarvasu 2004 rather than think about His own 71st. (In fact HH was planning to

set up committees for this purpose!) This is no doubt a noble thought on His

part but we cannot let go of this opportunity. Keeping the great traditions of

the Mutt in mind, we have to plan the celebrations in mind.

On behalf of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Asramam, on behalf of our Trustees and our

NEC members (and on my own behalf) I requested HH Sri Abhinava Vagheesa Swami

that His 71st Thirunakshatram be celebrated at our Chennai Asramam. This is with

a view to attract maximum audiences, conveniently assemble a good set of

Adhikaris for Veda Grantha Parayanamsand the volunteers for the event management

as well which will generate maximum mileage for the Matam and its projects. The

Trustees of the Mutt present immediately pointed out that the Mutt premises was

getting ready at Palathope, Mylapore and that the function be held there only(a

perfectly justified point of view). We pointed out that the access to the site

was very much restricted and cannot accommodate more than a handful of cars/ two

wheelers. HH has to take a decision in this regard.

This mail is to invite suggestions and proposals for events, constitution of a

committee, collection of funds, application thereof etc.,

My role is to facilitate, coordinate, cooperate and motivate only. All

assistance possible will be rendered by my colleagues in the Asramam. Kindly
