Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: In the recent past, we had to conted with the loss of great savants like Sri Mukkur Lakshmi Narasimhachariar Swami, Sri Seva Swami, Sri Srinidhi Swami in quick succession and more recently of Sri Purisai Krsihnamachariar Swami. Today, we got the shocking news about the demise of another stalwart of our Satsampradayam Sri GhOshTipuram Ramanujachariar Swami. I have had the bhaghyam of attending Kalakshepams of all of them while in India and once again feel the pangs of personal loss. Sri GhOstipuram Ramanujacharya Swami was a great scholar, held in high esteem by all Yathisreshtas (of both Kalais) and others alike. His depth of knowledge and the excellent manner of explaining the intricate nuances of our Satsampradayam, to the understanding of even lay folks like us, were matched only by his humility and and his self - effacing demeanor. His contribution at the "Aagama Conference" held at the Madras University a few years ago was an eye opener for most of us. His in-depth knowledge of the "Aagamas" was stunning, to say the least! It is said that Vidya (knowledge) and Vinaya (humility), though expected to be complimentary to each other, never go together! Sri Ramanujachariar Swami was a living example of one who combined in his personality both of them in an exemplary manner. We, at "Sri Ranga Sri" feel the poignancy of his departure as much as the members of his family do, also because he was adorning our Board of Advisory Consultants (BAC). He was for sometime in Mumbai and returned to his Coimbatore residence only a while ago. He was a great source of support for us. Sri Sadagopan Iyengar Swami (Srikaryam Swami of our BAC) was in constant touch with him to secure clarification of doubts referred to him. Though we can take solace in the thought that these mahaans are only joining the company of Nityasuris in Paramapadam for rendering eternal service (nitya kainkaryam) to the Lord, so far as we are concerned, it is unfortunate that we are losing, one by one, such literati who can guide us through. This only points to the urgency and need for us to rush to some of the living legends, before it is too late, to seek the means for our own emancipation through Prapatti.
