Guest guest
rajagopalannarayan: Sir, It is an interesting point you have raised.Neither Kekaya nor Janka-The V.V.I.P.s was invited for the incornation.Valmiki mentions this explicitly.Let me quote: naanaanagaravaastavyaan pR^ithagjaanapadaanapi || samaaninaaya medinyaaH pradhaanaan pR^ithiviipatiin |2-1-45 na tu kekayaraajaanaM janakaM vaa naraadhipaH || tvarayaa chaanayaamaasa pashchaattau shroshhyataH priyam 2-1-46 The rishi says:Dasaratha called for other kings and officers staying in various cities and villages in his kingdom seperately. The hurried Dasaratha did not call for the king Kekaya, the maternal uncle of Bharatha or the King Janaka as he thought they both could hear the good news even afterwards. What is more curios is that this same rishi mentions clearly that Kaikey's father and King Janka were invited for the Putrakameshti yagam. It was much earlier-then Janka was not his sambandhi. To quote: mithilaadhipatim shuuram janakam satya vaadinam || 1-13-21 tam aanaya mahaabhaagam svayam eva susatkR^itam | puurva sa.mbandhinam j~naatvaa tataH puurvam braviimi te || 1-13-22 ie; "You personally invite Janaka the king of Mithila, a valiant one and an advocate of truth, honouring his well and duly bearing in mind that he is a long-time associate of our King Dasharatha, hence I am telling you in the first instance. [1-13-21,22] tathaa kekaya raajaanam vR^iddham parama dhaarmikam | shvashuram raaja si.mhasya saputram tvam iha aanaya || 1-13-24 ie; "Likewise, King of Kekaya, an elderly, very virtuous, and also the father-in-law of our Lion-King Dasharatha, you personally invite him along with his sons. [1-13-24]. In fact there are a lot of such curious incidents in Valmiki Ramayana.I shall be pleased to share these with the members of this group. dasan V.KANNAN > Friends, As one reads the ramayana we get the impression that kaikeyi > was not aware of dasarathas intention of coronating prince rama as > king.Secondly manthara seems to be aware of this ignorance and > approaches kaikeyi to insigate the latter, Thirdly the coronation is to > be carried out when barataha and chathruguna were far away in their > uncles house.Improbable or impossible, would you agree. > Lastly Janaka or Sitas mother do not seem to be invited for the > occasion. There is no mention of these people not only in this context > but at no other place in the last three kandas. why.?Readers may please > satisfy my curiosity. dasan narayanan > > > > > Friends.
