Guest guest
Dear members, Why God had more than one wife? The simple and logical answer to this query seems to be on the following lines: Sri Mahalakshmi, Bhoomadevi and Neela Devi, the prominent consorts of the Lord are not like human beings born out of wedlock. Mahalakshmi came on her own from the Amrutha in the Milky ocean. Likewise, Bhooma Devi and Neela Devi were also appeared on Lord's Will. Unlike human beings, the Lord has his cosorts not for materialistic pleasures but to recommend to HIM to ignore the unlimited misdeeds and sins commited and being committed by all the human beings who have made Purushakaara saranaagathi to the Devis. The Lord also is pleased to forgive all our sins when we have followed this route. Sri Thirumazhisai Aalwar, in his Thiruchandavirutham says (Verse 777),AaaNinodu peNNum AAki....meaning He is everything. He is neither man, nor woman nor Eunuch.Nammazhwaar, in his Thiruvaaymazhi says..AaN allan, peNN allan, allA aliyumallan. Therefore God having more than one wife is an illution. He has created them only to help we the poor human beings to receive His Grace and Moksha. As the sinners are so huge, even one Mahalakshmi has sought the assistance of Bhoomadevi and Neela Devi to assist Her in her task of getting us Realisation of God. I am Siriyan, kindly pardon my mistakes. Adiyen, Srinivasaraghavan i 1) I am starting to question the fact that why did God have 2 wives? Is this whole concept of Vishnu with 2 wives, a concept created by a man-dominated society in the past? 2) Why wasn't having 2 wives considered unethical when God is expected to set an example for us all. I would appreciate your view points in this regard. Thank You. Srinivasan. _______________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
Lord Krishna is the only Purusha. All other creatures are part of Prakruti and are females. Purusha means the enjoyer. Whatever we do is for his Trupti or satisfaction. That is why at the end of every offering or puja the Pundit says ~Krishnarpanamastu' Even if it is a Bhagavati seva pooja, the offerings are finally going to Lord Krishna only. The question of one or two or three wives is only in our material eyes. In actuality, there is nothing like that. Pogygamy and Polyandry societies have been existant since time immemorial. But this just our perception of the reality. The Gopis had thought about Lord Krishna more than their own husbands. But then, in the spiritual realm, all those definitions of virtue, vice, morality rules and regulations of this material world do not hold good. That is the point.
