Why God has two wives ?

 

My answer:

 

According to Srivaishnava Philosophy , Lord Sriman Narayanan is the only

PURUSHOTHAMAN . HE is the only male and all HIS CHIT creations are female and we

are supposed to marry him through the wedlock of Saranagathi .

 

Also Periapiratti , called Sree Mahalakshmi ( SRIDEVI NACHIYAR ) , always adorns

Sriman Narayanan’s bosom and never leaves that place even for a fraction of a

second . This concept alone gives us all reassurances and courage that our

Saranagathi done at anytime or at anyplace to the Lord through Periapiratti will

produce the desired results.

 

Apart from Peria piratti the Lord has HIS other consorts as well . Bhoodevi and

Neeladevi ( also called Nappinnai Piratti ) . They are not to be considered as

his other wives , in the worldly sense of the term.

 

As Swami Desikan narrates in his works Dayasadagam , Bhoomadevi is the

embodiment of patience and holds the universe. Neeladevi is the embodiment of

Anubhavam or experience . They are part of Lord’s Thirukalyanagunas and helps

Periapiratti in the achievement of HER objective Viz . bringing salvation to the

chit creations of the LORD , when the former is doing saranagathi.

 

Lord always goes by the rule of the law while giving rewards and punishments to

HIS devotees. The devotees , by virtue of their vasanas do perform innumerable

sins while executing their prescribed Karmas. Hence they cannot attain salvation

of the soul , if Lord goes only by the rule of the game. In this the three

Pirattis Viz. Sridevi, Bhoodevi and Neeladevi play their role effectively and

create conditions for the LORD to forgive the sins of HIS devotees and offer

them salvation.

 

Periapiratti , makes the Lord to forgive the sins of the devotees. Boomadevi

does not show the sins of the devotees to the Lord by diverting HIS attention.

Finally , Neeladevi , prevents the Lord from seeing the sins of the devotees by

her leelas. Where as Sridevi is Mahalakshmi , Bhoodevi is none other than Andal

and Neeladevi is the Gopikas. Sridevi is Lord’s devotee , Bhoodevi is the

devotee of the Lord and Sridevi and Neeladevi is the devotee of the devotees.

Since Neeladevi controls the Indriyas of the Lord by Her leelas , She is also

called the Purushakara Bhoothai. The three princesses of the Lord are lined up

only to explain the Guruparampara to the world.

 

Trust the above will explain why Sriman Narayanan is having more than one

Nachiyar . So it would be absolutely incorrect to call the Nachiars as wives of

the Lord and also equate HIS position to us in this mundane world. There is NO

comparison.
