It has to be observed only in the next paksham, i.e. next poornima. Here are some comments based on that reference work and the ultimate decision is based on one 's AchAryA.They are only a telephone call away to help. The asoucham ( Theettu ) in the case of Vruddhi is a mutifaceted Question depending on whether (1) the child was born at the house of the parents' as in old days ; today , the parents come to overseas homes of their children to assist before & after child birth , which takes place in hospital . Back in India too , most of the child births do not happen at home with the help of midwife as in olden tiimes. The duration of the Theetu itself is different to different relatives in these different contexts depending on (1) whether the the child was born in a hospital setting or (2) the person expected to observe the Theetu is in the same country or abroad . There are also two kinds of karmAs that we have to take into account : (1) Rishi Kaaryam like VedArambham ( UpAkarma ) or (2) Pithru Kaaryam , when it comes to Theetu . Vruddhi ( Birth related theetu ) is not exactly Pithru Kaaryam . The point here is that the Rishi Kaaryam like UpAkarma needs a different level of judgement than Pithru Kaaryam in terms of cancellation or Postponement of karmAs for shorter and long durations. Another complication is whether the person belongs to Yajur or Saama Veda Saakhai . Even among Yajur Veda observers , the different AchArya Paramparais have picked different dates for Upaakarma . Hence , in the case of an individual concerned about Theetu , the ruling by their AchArya would be pertiment . Otherwise , the recommendation will not be content specific . Under the circumstances , it appears safer to postpone the observance to the Next PoorNimA .
