Guest guest
Dear Swamin: I feel honored to learn that your views and opinions on the subject of Moolavar and on the gender of all jeevatmas (souls) as feminine at birth as alluded by Sriman Sudarshan, are totally identical to mine. I expressed my concerns to Sri Sudarshan and Anbil Swamin in personal email and Sri Sudarshan has graciously responded to my comments on the scientific validity of his statement. We reconciled our viewpoints. I was lot more vehement and forceful in expressing my opinion on the subject of Moolavar while you are very gentle and subtle in convincing the same sentiment. I lack your style of approach and judgment with wisdom and knowledge on Srivaishnavism as I get swayed with emotions. Your comments on Sita piratti's agnipravesam are thought-provoking and illuminating. Now, I can comprehend Ramayana as drama staged by the Lord and Piratti for the Human World. I would be very happy, had it ended with Pattibhishekam. But the continuation to dramatize Uttarakandam with poignant episodes of Sita Piratti's banishment as pregnant mother are heart breaking and clamoring for justice in Rama's court. Human dharma would not permit this offense to a pregnant lady who is only escorted to her parents house for safe delivery and care of the newborn. Would you please enlighten us on the esoteric meaning for Uttarakandam? How could Rama, the Divine ever indulge in punishing Piratti with this cruel ordinance of Banishment? Guest guest
Sreemathe Ramanujaya Namaha: Dear Raghavan Swamin, I feel greatly honoured to be appreciated by your good self. I don't deserve that honour. However if my explanation which is on the lines of what our Poovacharyas said on the subject, satisfies at least some devotees of Emperuman I feel elated. This world itself is a great stage set by the Lord to elevate our souls and for evolution of our souls by making us realize our exact relationship with the Paramaathma. We see dramas being played on stage, watch TV shows and cinemas and we sympathize with the characters as if we are living amidst them. We grieve and cry sometimes when we see our heroines are suffering and are elated and when good days again dawn on them, however fleeting these experiences may be. On the real stage, on the living plane these are more long lasting experiences. At the same time we also learn lessons from these experiences. At the same time on a higher plane the Divine Drama is also going on. If we ponder a bit all the occurings are nothing but Divine in origin. All these occur simultaneously. There is a purpose behind all of these occurings if we care to dwell in them. Each occcuring has something to teach us. The ultimate realization is of course the futility of this kind of life on earth, which has to come to an end someday. Everything is Anithyam and Asaswatam. However we have to take part in this drama vigourouly. This is what is said in Bhagavat Geeta by Emperuman. He Himself has to act though there is no reason for Him to do so. He sets an example. We have to do our duty and do it well according to Bhagavat Geetha, which is nothing but the Upanishad Saram. Then again so is Ramayanam. It is a great epic, which makes our mind and soul go through fire and ice. And that is why we are agitated and ask Why Oh Why? It is meant to kindle our thoughts and correct our deeds. I feel extremely pained and I am not ashamed to confess that I sometimes shed tears when I think of travails of the Divine Mother. The only explanation I can think of is here Lord Ramachandra is acting as Chakravarthi Tirumagan, the Monarch of the Kingdom of God on this earth. He has a duty. He has to listen to and protect his subjects. He has to maintain an order in the society. He cannot run away with His Wife however lofty Her conduct maybe, renouncing His duties as a King. He is enacting the role of a great human character Remember He says "Aatmaanam Manusham manye--". He is doing His duty by banishing the Divine mother Who happens to be His Wife to the forest. He grieved as no other human can. In BhavaBhuti's Uttara Rama Charitam his grief is compared to Puta Pakam. Putam is a furnace in which Ayuveduc medicines are boiled at high temperatures for days and months together. We also grieve with Him even after these thousands of years, and so it should be to purify our hearts and souls.
