Kanchi Trust joins hands with Ahobila Mutt

Kancheepuram (TN), July 19: The Kanchi Kamakoti Trust has joined

hands with the Ahobila Mutt in Andhra Pradesh for making a golden

chariot for the latter at a cost of Rs 70 lakh.

The chariot would be used for the presiding deity of the Ahobila

Mutt, Lord Narasimha, Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi told

newspersons here today.

He said the Jeeyar of Ahobila Mutt, a Vaishnavite mutt having a large

number of followers throughout the country, had visited the Kanchi

Mutt recently and appreciated the golden chariot in the mutt here.

The Jeeyar also had darshan of the 'saligramam', said to have been

received by Adi Sankara from Lord Narasimha at Ahobilam, kept in the

Kanchi Mutt.

The Acharya said because of the connections Adi Sankara had with

Ahobilam, the Kanchi Kamakoti Trust had decided to jointly make the

golden chariot, adding that it would be made from contributions from

devotees. (Agencies)
