Guest guest Posted July 24, 2004 Report Share Posted July 24, 2004 Kanchi Trust joins hands with Ahobila Mutt Kancheepuram (TN), July 19: The Kanchi Kamakoti Trust has joined hands with the Ahobila Mutt in Andhra Pradesh for making a golden chariot for the latter at a cost of Rs 70 lakh. The chariot would be used for the presiding deity of the Ahobila Mutt, Lord Narasimha, Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi told newspersons here today. He said the Jeeyar of Ahobila Mutt, a Vaishnavite mutt having a large number of followers throughout the country, had visited the Kanchi Mutt recently and appreciated the golden chariot in the mutt here. The Jeeyar also had darshan of the 'saligramam', said to have been received by Adi Sankara from Lord Narasimha at Ahobilam, kept in the Kanchi Mutt. The Acharya said because of the connections Adi Sankara had with Ahobilam, the Kanchi Kamakoti Trust had decided to jointly make the golden chariot, adding that it would be made from contributions from devotees.
