Guest guest
Can any of the Bhagavathaa please explain the following doubts: 1) Does a Sri Vaishnavan do the Ritual of Pouring Milk in Puttu (" Putukku Paal Thelithal"). If yes please explain the reason. Does it have any thing to do with Thiru Adhiseshan?? 2) Why does not a Sri Vaishnavan receive the Karpura Arathi (like others do)?? Guest guest
Dear SRI srikanth parthasarathy, Here are the answers as i know it but more learned inthe group pl. correct me if i am wrong. Q-1) In sri vaishnava philosophy, we surrender to sriman narayana only, the supreme deity. All our offerings, prayers and rituals are only intended to obtain his grace. We sri vaishnavas donot consider puthu and milk pouring as rituals to obtain grace of the supreme lord. Q-2) A sri vaishnavas right hand is considered to be the place of agnis presence. Hence we donot receive karpura mangalarthi as other brahmins do. Thanks c.k.srinivasan. >SRIKANTH PARTHASARATHY <kanthsri69> > > Clarification on Sri Vaishnavan >Fri, 30 Jul 2004 04:37:50 +0100 (BST) > > Can any of the Bhagavathaa please explain the >following doubts: > >1) Does a Sri Vaishnavan do the Ritual of Pouring Milk >in Puttu (" Putukku Paal Thelithal"). Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Dear Sri .Srikanth Parthasarathy I also endorse the clarification given by Sriman C.K.Srinivasan. For true Srivaishnavites , faith in Sriman Narayanan alone can bring in salvation and not engaging in other rituals mentioned. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan G.Sampath. "C.K. Guest guest
Dear Swamy, While the clarfication of sri C.K. Srnivasan for the first point is in line with what I learnt - for the lord residing inside the 'puthu' in different forms, the clarification for the second point does not seem to match with my understanding. In fact we do anjali to the harathi & not take it. In fact it is always to be given an anjali. I really dont know or cant say how the practice of taking it originated. Right hand of all Brahmins contain agni. 'Brahmanasya dakshiney hasthey hothavyam' as per veda vakyam.
