On Sep 15, Uttara nakshatra is in force at the sunrise (6.27 AM), up to 9.43 AM. Therefore, he said that Sama upakarma is on Sep 16. We still have (simha masam) AvaNi Hastam on Sep 16 for 8 Nazhigai up to 9.40 AM. In the US in the East Coast (NY/NJ),the New month "Purattasi or Kanya Ravi" Sankramanam occurs at 5.20 PM on Thursday, Sep 16 as per vAkya panchangam. nArAyaNA!
