Guest guest
Dear raama bhakthaas, As already seen the very purpose all these dhEvaas including indhran coming to earth is to participate in the “mission kill raavaNan” and his team. People in the whole world, and other planets, were afraid of this aggressive community of raakshasaas and their king raavaNan. About raavaNan these dhEvaas who went to meet brahma and vishNu complained like this - nainam soorya: prathapathi paarsvE vaathi na maarutha: | chala oorhmi maalee tham dhrushtvaa samudhrO~api na kampathE || sree madh raamaayaNam 1-15-10 meaning: The sun-god will not verily parch raavaNan, the air-god will not puff at his sides, and on seeing raavaNan, the lord of the undulating waves varuNan, namely the ocean, will not pulsate either. Point: The varuNan or ocean hides those undulating waves from raavaNan, [for the waves are his wives], thinking that raavaNan may abduct them as he has done with a number of ladies, [including seethaa at a later date]. tham udhDhatham raavaNam ugra thEjasam pravrudhdha dharpam thridhasEsvara vara dhvisam | viraavaNam saadhu thapasvi kaNtakam thapasvinaam udhDhara tham bhayaaavaham || sree madh raamaayaNam 1-15-33 meaning: Oh! vishNu, he, that fiery one [raavaNan] is uprising furiously with his heightened arrogance, and he is a fright to sages and a thorn in the side of hermits, and he is the hater of indhran. Hence we pray you to redeem that raavaNan. udhvEjayathi lOkaan threen uchchrithaan dhvEshti dhurmathi: | sakram thridhasa raajaanam pradharsaayithum ichchathi || sree madh raamaayaNam 1-15-8 meaning: That malevolent raavaNan is tormenting all the three worlds, hating the functionary deities of cosmos, and always desires to assail indhran, the king of all the functionary deities of universe. Point: raavaNan, the hater of indhran, and had his desire to assail or attack indhran when he could get such a chance. A question may arise in the mind of bhakthaas, why these are referenced here? The answer is that, to such a hater, vaali the indhran’s son or amsam, has befriended. This was a great mistake on vaali’s part, and as such deserves a punishment from raamaa, the lord of indhran in dhEva lOkam. For vaali has missed his duty or his dharmam, of coming to earth for helping raama when raamaa comes to the bhoolOkam on “mission kill raavaNan”. Just consider this aspect in present day circumstances. Suppose a highly placed officer in the External Affairs ministry or defense of first country reveals the secrets of his country to an enemy country [second country] and also gives an assurance of protection to the second country person [or persons] who receives such classified information. Then, in such a position, how can the first country go in war with second one? In a similar way when vaali has given friendship and thereby a veiled protection to raavaNan, how can raama proceed in war with raavaNan. [just do not consider here for a moment, he is the supreme lord, but an ordinary human king.] vaali just cannot be forgiven for this act of his. Further ‘raama is vigrahavaan dharma’ – so whenever any one goes beyond his dharma, raama, as the protector of dharma, will punish the offender. That is what happened to vaali. See raama is not directly saying the name of vaali even – but says someone denoted by name vaali – to sugreeva while making friendship with sugreevan – and when he heard that vaali abducted the wife of sugreevan - to that extent raamaa got offended? Can we say? - vaali sajnam amithram thE bhraatharam krutha kilbisham | sarai: vinihatham pasya vikeerNam iva parvatham || 4-8-24 meaning: You may see your malicious and intimidating brother, someone denoted by name vaali, eradicated with these very arrows and splintered down like a mountain, raama said so, to sugreeva. In his work Kavi chakravarthy Kamban sees vaali in three forms, which is beautifully explained as 1. vaali has a human face 2. vaali has a monkey face 3. vaali has a divine face. King vaali, – as a ruler of kishkindha, – as a husband to thaaraa, – as a father to angadhan and – as a brother to sugreevan, was unique and successful. He was a man of knowledge also. Vaali used to pay his respects to the philosopher class, the rishis. This picture points out the Human vaali. But whenever his physical power was challenged, especially in a one to one fight or a duel, he would get totally excited. He became so obsessed with terrible rage that he could not recognize anyone, whether be it his own son or brother. By going all out in fighting and defeating or killing the opponent only, was he able to get peace and relaxation. This shows the tenets of Monkey vaali. Vaali aska one boon from raama, “kindly do not use the arrow which you have used for me on sugreeva, even if he forgets his vow of helping you in the search of seethaa. Here the divine vaali is projected. How and in what verses the evidence for these are available. These we will see in next post. with due respects v.anjaneyulu, itarsi India Matrimony: Find your life partneronline.
