Mahasravanam Celebration - detail

Dear swamins, The Maha Sravanam was celebrated in a grand mannar on last

Friday. This time there was a bonus that the Sravanam was celebrated n two

houses. Chanting was started exactly at 9.35am and as per schedule it was over

at 11.50. The Veda Goshti chanted Upanishads (both prasnams), Pancha Suktam,

Pancha Santi mantras, Pavamana Suktam and Arunam. The Divya Prabanda Goshti

chanted Pallandu, Puchudal, Kappidal, Nirattam, Tirupalliyeluchi, Tiruppavai,

Madal, Amalanaadipiran, Koil Tiruvaimozhi and Ramanuja Nootrantadi The Desika

Prabanda Goshti recited all possible Desika Prabandam Stotrapata Goshti recited

nearly 20 stotrapatas. then Two stotras (Kamasika and Sudarsana Ashtakams),

Desika Gadyam, Chitra paddhati of Paduka Sahasram were also chanted. The

article on Swami Desikan and Srinivasan was read. First time in 12 years Veda

Satrumurai was performed. Tirta Viniyogam was held with Desiga Vazhiya

tirunamam, Mangalam and Nyasa Dasakam. The satrumurai was started at 12.30

pm. Around 40 Asthikas were attended with their family. Every one enjoyed and

performed their at most possible kainkaryam. All were happy and could recite

the maximum no. of Kritis in this arrangment. Since it was Ekadasi Upma and Idly

were distributed as Prasam. After this at 3 pm many astikas attended the

Sravanam celebration at Venkatesan Swami's house at Ruwi. Tirumanjanam of Sri

Lakshmi Hayagrivar, Kannan, Nammazwar, Kaliyan, Bhashyakarar and Swami Desikan

was performed. Asthikas recited Upanishads and Pancha suktam,

Nithyanusandhanam, stotra patam were performed. Tirtham in Iravadai was

distributed. After alankaram Satrumurai was performed. Around 25 asthikas with

thier family attended and had blessings of Lord Lakshmi Hayagriva. Pen was

distributed to all the school going students to signify that Lord Lakshmi

Hayagriva bless them to get good knowledge and marks. Next Sravanam will be held

at Sriman Sriram's house at Wadi Kabir (al amal building near pencil building).

That is also on Friday. So It will be conducted in the morning on Mahanavami
