Guest guest
Dear Bhagavathas, Could some scholar in the group, kindly clarify my doubts? How many days of Asaucam (teettu) in case of the following; Sister-in-law (Brother’s wife) delivered baby? Sister-in-law (Sister’s sister) delivered baby? Sister delivered baby? Is the days of Teettu is same within the family (husband and wife)? Dasan, N.Venkataraghavan _______________________________ Declare Yourself - Register online to vote today! http://vote. Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas, Please permit me to share this two cents worth information, based on my understanding of the asaucha prakaraNam of our beloved 45th Azhagiyasingar's ( while in poorvAshramam ) Master-work " sri vaishNava sadAchAra nirNayam". jAtAsaucham: ( teettu in connection with the birth of a child ): 10 days if the child is born to the parents with the same gOtram as yours. (examples: of course your own ; your brother's ; your paternal uncle's - means - your father's brother; and anyone else with your own gOtram). 3 days if the child is born to the parents of your married sister ( because of mAtula relationship ). Similarly mrutAsaucham: ( teettu in connection with the death of a relative, which is quite complicated ): 10 days if the dead person belongs to the same gOtram as yours. (examples: your parents, your wife, your husband; your brother; your brother's wife, any child of all the previous people if that child had Upanayanam ( for other children who died without Upanayanam it is only THREE days), your paternal uncle and your paternal uncle's wife, your paternal uncle's child who had Upanayanam and anyone else with your own gOtram). i.e.. anyone with whom you have to participate in the sapindIkaraNa kAryam. 3 days if the dead person happens to be your married sister; maternal uncle and his immediate family members like his wife, male children who had Upanayanam, maternal aunt and her immediate family members, paternal aunt and her immediate family members. Hope to hear more from other leaned members.
