Dear Bhagavatas:

The subject has been dealt with elaborately in the Chapter "Greatness of

Ramanuja Darsanam" in my book "Hinduism Rediscovered". I believe a reading of

this Chapter would clear such doubts.

Please accept my humble pranams.

I would like to listen to your clarifications

on the following and benefit from it.

In Advaita, if I understand it correctly, they

say that everything else is Maya and once we

realise the truth the Maya dis-appears and we

become one with the Supreme. This implies that

if one were to learn the scriptures (which will be

part of the Maya domain) and understand the Truth,

he/she would be doing so by reading something

that is non existant and understand the Truth.

The analogy given from Advaita standpoint to

validate this is the Rope-snake analogy, where

we can experience something real even from something

that is unreal.

In his refutation of this theory, is Sri Vedanta Desika

saying the experiencing of the fear of snake can happen

only if one knows the attributes and characteristics of the

snake before hand, which is not the case wrt scriptures and

the Truth ?

Could somebody kindly tell if I have understood it

correctly ? and if not please explain what is being said ?

Thanks,

Humble pranams.
