The 78th thirunakshtra mahotsavam of Srimad Azhagiyasingar

(karthigai-utthirattaadhi) falls on Nov 22nd this year (please note that

Utthirattaadhi falls on the 21st of November itself in USA). Its planned to be

celebrated in a grand manner at Hyderabad (coinciding with the 25th anniversary

of Sri Matam of Hyderabad).

utsavam and get the blessings of Srimad Azhagiyasingar.

 

The utsavam is held over a 2 to 3 week period and is attended by thousands of

devotees from all over the world. In addition, hundreds of vidwans belonging to

both chaturveda and prabhandam from different schools and sampradaayams across

the country are invited and their rendition of vedam and prabhandam is a treat

to listen. Vidwat sadhas is held during the two weeks that also provides ubhaya

vedantins an opportunity to engage in spiritual discussions. This provides a

unique opportunity for accomplished vidwans from different schools to meet at

one point and demonstrate their vidwat acquired by years of practice.

 

The entire event is held under the auspices of Sri Ahobila Matam and as such

involves enormous resources. Most of the expenditure is focussed around

prasadam for devotees and providing accomodation, travel expenses and generous

sambhavanais to vidwans to nurture the traditional roots.

 

This is a great opportunity for sishyas to contribute for this grand occasion.
