Guest guest
In the attached note that I sent out two days back, highly recommending a book on SrI bhAshyam, I had mentioned that SrI Putur svAmi had done an excellent 'translation' of the samskRt work by SrI KozhiyAlam Srinivasacharya svAmi. Actually SrI Puttur svAmi has done an excellent 'elaboration' (tamizh vivaraNam) based on SrI Kozhiyalam svAmi's samskRt work. He has actually added the pramANa-s from the upanishads, with proper references, etc., and explained SrI Kozhiyalam svAmi's work in the form of samskRt Sloka-s (somewhat like adhikaraNa sArAvaLi). All the other statements I made (that the tamizh work is excellent and very readable etc.) are still true, but I had unintentionally omitted to note that SrI Puttur svAmi's contribution is more than mere translation. Sorry for the error on my part. The book is an excellent work as noted in my earlier mail. -dAsan krishnamachari I have come across an excellent book on SrI bhAshyam, and wanted to share the information with others who might benefit from this book. The book is titled "SArIrakArikAvaLi", and is published by Puttur SrI Krishnaswamy Iyengar svAmi. The original text is in samskRt, and is by SrI Kozhialam Srinivasachariar svAmi. The book includes the tamizh translation by SrI Puttur svAmi. The tamizh translation is in simple, readable tamizh. While I am not qualified to claim that I have the knowledge to understand SrI bhAshyam, I honestly believe that the material is written in very-easy-to understand language, and I strongly recommend the book to those who would like to get a high level introduction to bhagavad rAmAnuja's exposition of the brahma sUtra-s. Some exposure to the upanishads will be an advantage while reading the book. I hopr the book is still in print and available from SrI Puttur svAmi. -dAsan Krishnamachari
