Dearest Srivaisnavas,

The association with Bhaagawathaas is so great and

glorious that even the Prapannan (one who has

performed Saranagathi] can pray for being born as a

worm. And those who have not performed Saranagathi-

the next birth is certain and hence the association

with Bhaagawathas should be definitely prayed for.

Thus the Bhaagawatha kataaksham is extremely essential

in this world.

mahaathmabhir maam avalOkyathaam naya

kshaNEpi thE yad virahO(S)thi dhussaha: [56]

Those Bhaagawathaas- whose separation is unbearable

for You even for a fraction of a second; and those

bhaagawathaas- who consider the highest material,

worldly enjoyments as mere thruNam (blade of grass)

and reject them then and there and pray only for the

enjoyment of Your Lotus Feet alone; - Please bless me

making me an object of the benevolent glances of those

greatest Bhaagwathaas to be cast on me.

The whole world – everyone in this world- runs amuck

after material pursuits and the jnaanI – the saint- my

devotee- who considers nothing else other than Me

alone; He rejects everything else as blade of grass; -

Other fruits- which are granted by other demi gods-

[as granted to them by You] are sought by the devotees

of those demi gods. Further, there are devotees who

pray to You alone. There are people who thus seek

aishwaryam [wealth] and there are some who go little

higher and seek brahma, rudhra et al posts; there are

those who perform karma, jnAna yoga and stop at

jeevaathma anubhavam and end up at Kaivalya anubhavam.

The Paramaikaanthins- do not consider any of the above

as fruits at all; Those fruits even put together- are

mere blade of grass for them compared to the enjoyment

of Your darshan even for a fraction of second. They

pray for enjoyment of the Lord’s lotus feet and that

alone. Also even in this world, they meditate Your

divine form in their hearts and enjoy the same.

yEraar muya vittu kaakkai pin PovadhEn- Thirumangai

Alwar says enjoying the archaa avathAram.

I am desirous of their kataaksham – their benevolent

glances. Why? Because You are not able to even bear

the separation from them- even for a fraction of a

second. Their separation is unbearable to You. At

least I seek some fruits namely, the enjoyment of You.

BUT You are the Supreme Lord; You are avaaptha

samastha kaaman. You have everything and everyone

under your control. Why should You be desirous of

them? Why should the separation from those Bhagawathas

be so unbearable for You? Still it is so – due to Your

love for Your greatest devotees; those Parama

Bhaagawathaas.

You only have said in GitA:

thEshAM Jn~Ani nithya-yuktha yEka-bhakthirvisishyathE

priyOhi jn~Aninothyarthamaham sa cha mE priya:

--Geethai: 7.17

Of these (four), the Jn~Ani (the man of Knowledge), is

ever with Me in YogA and devoted to only Me. He is the

foremost to Me among the four types of people , who

worship Me. I am very dear to this Jn~Ani and he too

is very dear to Me.

udhAra: sarva yEvaithE Jn~Ani thvAthmaiva mEmatham

aasthitha: sa hi yukthAthmA maamEvAnutthamAm gathim

--Geethai: 7.18

All these four are generous in their worship; but I

deem the Jn~Ani to be My very self; for he,

integrated, is devoted to Me alone as the parama

purushArtham (highest end).

BahUnAm JanmaNAmanthE Jn~AvAn maam prapadhyathE

VaasudEva: sarvamithi sa MahAthmA Sudhurlabha:

--Geethai: 7.19

After many, many births, the Jn~Ani finds refuge in Me

, fully realizing that "VaasudEvA is every thing". It

is rare indeed

to find such a great-souled person in this world.

Hence it is also sought and desired by me to be

associated with such greatest Bhagaawathaas. That is

Parama purushaarttham for Prapannan. Also for

mumukshus (those desirous of mOksham), the association

with Bhaagawathas itself is the means towards

performance of Prapatti.

His unbearable state of being away from those

Bhaagawathaas – is because of their being unable to

enjoy Bhagavad anubhavam and hence He feels for them.

He can not bear that. Thus He takes care of their

enjoyment of Him at all times. Such greatest

BhAgwathAs’ benevolent glances on others would benefit

them as well to such status sooner or later.
