Pongal pannai procedure

Dear all,

 

What's the exact procedure to keep ponga pannai,?

To make it clear,

 

like some people say you should not wash rice on

that day, also you should add milk in rice,

"thiruman" around ponga pannai, etc.?

 

I'm looking for some authentic information.
