Scheme for Donating Clothes, Water, and Food to Old, Decrepit and Deserted

Sumnagalis and widows, to begin with 9 yard sarees to the women and 4 cubit

dhotis to pupils learning Vedas (Every Month).

Date : 25 / 03 / 2005.

 

As Proclaimed by Sri Andal, the greatest gifts (Daanam) to give are

“clothes, water and food”.

 

The importance of clean and untorn apparel need not be stressed. All Karmas

require decent and conventional dress as a precondition. If you see one

languishing for the want of these, you should rush to the rescue of the

unfortunate. If you cant give, get from those who can and distribute, taking

the apparel only from Vishnu Bhaktas. The shastras declare that neglect in

this regard or giving other things when dress is needed is an act of sin .it

can be inferred that if we are prosperous and affluent some ancestor had

made the above mentioned gifts it follows that to benefit our posterity we

must do now. Donating new clothes during Pitru Kainkaryas is most sacred.

Sastras say that being in a status to get one meal a day is well-being. If

giving dhotis is not possible, give at least the sacred threads (Poonul).

Make sure that the recipients deserve and are qualified Spiritually. One who

gives purified clothes during sharaada will have all his desires fulfilled.

In the case of women give at least a blouse bit and Mangalya thread. If such

donations are made at holy places, the effect gets multiplied.

 

Note: -

 

Under this Scheme 400 Sumangalis were given sarees, blouse bits, flowers,

fruits and turmeric during the tamil months of Aadi, Purattasi, Thai, Maasi

and Panguni. In addition, during Karadayan Nombu, Mangalya Suthras offered

at the holy feet of Sri Srirangam, Kanchi and Thirupathi Thayars would be

distributed to Sumangalis. The Archakas from the holy cities will give these

Mangalya Suthras- 13,000 Sumangalis have so far been benefited, 2340 pupils

were benefited, 350 Kanyatsrees have been given Blouse bits, we request all

those who read these should take part in this Kainkarya, and help in a Big

Way.

 

Every Friday at the sannadhis of Malayala Nachiar, Kumdavalli Nachiar, Sri

Andal, Swami Thatha Desika’s Consort Ammangaru and Alwars and Acharyas

Clothes to be invested.
