Guest guest
Respected asthikas We should thank sadagopan swami for the informative article recently. I may be pardoned for adding a few points. A sanyasin howevever young can be prostrated without abivadanam even if he is your acharyan. A sanyasin does not prostrate others except his mother. The poorvaasrama father of the sanyasi can prostrate the sanyasin. Abivadanam is not done to one person in a sabai. I had observed several years back that when two senior vaishnavites met they prostrated each other several times and stopped only when one of them was tired or exhausted. The number of prostrations did not count, when one prostrates before his acharyan, he should continue till the acharyan calls for a stop. The number 1,2 ,4 etc are not significant. Prostration to an individual is not done in the temple prakaram. In a shastanganamaskarams, I have observed some srossing their legs in the supime position but do not know the reason. Women do not perform shastanga namaskaram.
