I was introduced to Sri Anbil Swamy first in 1996 through the internet when I d to his cyber-site SDDS, Desika Darsana Sabha. He was posting a series of articles under the title "Hinduism Rediscovered". The articles covered an amazingly wide range of subjects relating to Veda, the Prastana-traya, Ramanuja "siddhAnta", SriVaishnava "aahanikam", AzhwAr "srisookthis" and Swami Venkatanathan's "rahasya-trayasaram". Sri Ramaswamy's series, written as it was in simple but elegant English, was an eye-opener to me as I'm sure it must have been to hundreds of other interested readers on the worldwide internet. There were many thousands like me who had scant knowledge of Sanskrit or Tamil but who were sincerely seeking to discover the riches of the Vedantic scriptures of India through the medium of English commentaries or treatises. To such seekers and students of Vedanta, Sri Anbil's series of articles was a veritable treat providing as it did easy access to rich sources of reference, information, explication and commentary. Many years later, in the year 2004, a few admirers and readers of Sri Anbil Swamy (most notably Sri IVK Chary) in Kuwait, and who were members of the Tiruvenkatam Group (tiruvenkatam), hit upon the idea of gathering all the articles of the "HInduism Rediscovered" series on the internet and compiling the same into a published book. Sri Anbil Swamy was contacted and he readily came forward to help in turning the idea into reality. In March 2004, thus, thanks to the tireless efforts of Sri Anbil Swamy and to the generous financial support of the Tiruvenkatam Group members in Kuwait, the book "Hinduism Rediscovered" was published and released at a solemn occasion in SriRangam graced by the presence of His Holiness Srimadh Paravakootai Andavan Swami. I regard Sri Anbil Ramaswamy's book to be a most valuable contemporary work in English on SriVaishnava thought and practices. For the SriVaishnavite diaspora at large anywhere in the world, be it the USA, Gulf States or Far-East, and especially for the modern youth of the community there, a reading of the book would certainly serve as an excellent first initiation into the treasures that lie deep within the SriVaishnava "sampradAya" and ethos. Sri Anbil Swamy's undertaking to write the book was sheer labour of love indeed. He carried it out in a spirit of humble "kainkarya" to the larger community of Vedantic 'asthikas' and 'bhagavathas' around the world. For this effort alone, even if not for anything else, he richly deserves, particularly at this glorious stage in his life, the recognition of peers and admirers alike who are all now gathering at Baltimore to award him with the title of "kainkarya Rathnam". On behalf of all the members of the Tiruvenkatam Group, Kuwait, without whose generous help the book "Hinduism Rediscovered" could not have been published, I offer tributes and congratulations to the learned doyen. While we pray to the Divya-dampathis, the Lord and Mother, our Deities at Tirumala, to grant Sri Anbil Swamy long life, good health and cheer, we take the occasion to offer our individual "danda-samarpaNam" too to him and seek his blessings for ourselves and our families. With deep regards, For and on behalf of the Tiruvenkatam Group dAsan, Sudarshan
