Guest guest
Dear all: PLease see my write up on "Gotras and Pravaras" contained in SRS Vol. Issues 4.09, 4.12 to 4.14, 4.17 to 4.20, 4.23, 4.26 to 4.28, 4.31, 4.32, 4.35,5.02, 5.04, 5.06, 5.08 to 5.14, 5.19 to 25 etc. in which the subject has been dealt with extensively. It is the considered view of all Poorvaachaayas that there can be no marriage between persons belonging to the SAME gOtra. Once, when I raised a doubt, H.H.Srimad Andavan of Poundarikapuram Swami Asramam, Srirangam clarified that even if one of the two individuals belonging to the same gOtra were to acquire a new gOtra by way of adoption etc, both the gOtras concerned should be excluded for the purpose of marriage as between such persons. Hope this clarifies. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy Moderator ============================================================== Dear Devotees, Can anybody enlighten me how Gothras are originated initially? And also I heard a guy should not marry a girl if she belongs to same gothram. I am desparately looking for answers. I am not getting proper information anywhere.
