Dear Nrusimha BhakthAs :

Today was the fifth day of the KshEthrAdanam .

It was the half way point of this KshEthrAdanam .

adiyEn arrived at Sri Matamand prostrated before

asmath AchAryan .

adiyEn requested His niyamanam to have adiyEn's Father's

SathamAna Uthsavam to be conducted at Sri Matam under His

adhyaksham . Asmath AchAryan consented graciously to the prArTanA .

He suggested to the Sannidhi Cook Swamy to prepare JilEbhi for

the next day for MalOlan's preethi as a special sweet besides

AkkAra Vadisil .

Paanaka AarAdhanam sessions of the evening

**************************************************************

adiyEn stayed for the Evening Paanaka AarAdhanam and was blessed to hear

the Sri Nrusimha AshtOtthara Satha Naama SthOrthram , which starts with :

SrI NrusimhO MahAsimhO DhivyasimhO MahABala:

UgrasimhO MahAdEva UpEndhrascchAgni-lOchana:

and concludes with :

JwAlAahOBila-MaalOla krODa Kaaranja BhArgava:

YogAnandha: ChathravaDa: PaavanA NavamUrthaya:

The evening AarAdhanam is strong on PrabhandhAnusandhAnams

in front of MalOlan and His dhivya PadhukA SEvakar .

It was wondeerful to hear the SEVEN Taniyans and the entire PallANDu of

PeriyAzhwAr next .

The PoocchUttal Pasurams were invoked inviting MalOlan ( Uruvam Azhagiya Nambi)

to adorn SeNpakam , Mallikai , Paadhiri , Senkazhuneer , Punnai , Kurukkatthi

,

IruvAtchi and Karumuhai flowers on His beautiful , wavy tresses .

The Kaappidal Paasurams followed . The concerned Mother seeks protection for

Her infant child through Kaappidal Paasurams . Mother YasOdha out of fear of

any harm coming the way of Her darling child and reminds Him , the Omniscient

that it was " andhiyam pozhuthAhum AzhahanE ! KaappiDa VaarAy ". She goes on to

address Her precious child as " VaLLalE ! Jn~AnacchudarE ! ParamanE ! " and

confides that she is afraid of Him playing in the four way junctions at the

sandhyA Kaalam

and reasons with Him : " anjuvan Nee angu niRkka AzhaahanE ! Kaappida VaarAy "

..

This was followed by the most moving "SenniyOngu " Paasurams of PeriyAzhwAr " ,

where the AzhwAr from SrivilliputthUr celebrates his soubhAgyam :

YemmanA ! Yenn Kula dhaivamE ! Yennudai NaayakanE !

NinnuLEnAip-peRRa nanmai ivvulahinil yaar peRuvAr ?

ThiruppANar's aanandha anubhavam flowed next as "AmalanAdhipirAn"

DolaikkaNNan and Sri RanganAthan inside the Silver Mantapam rsponded with

alacrity to the inspired vision of ThiruppANar :

IyaanA , ANiaranganAr aravinaNai-misai-mEya MaayanAr

Next resonated the AchArya Bhakthi-laden Paasurams of Madhura Kavi: " KaNNinuNN

siRuthAmpu "

adyEn lingered over the section with the special message to all of us as

error-prone chEtanams

and the redemptive , infinite grace of our Kula Pathi , Swamy NammAzhwAr :

payanRAhilum PaangalarAhilum

seyal nanRAhat-thriutthip-paNikoLvAn

--- KuruhUr Nambhee !

The three sets (decads) of ThiruvAimozhi Paasurams followed :

(1) ANaivathu AravaNai mEl ( TVM: 2.8)

(2) Aazhiyezha Sankham Villumezha ---(TVM : 7.4)

(3) OhRaayiramAy ulahEzhu aLikkum ---( TVM : 9.3)

Swamy KumAra Varadhar's PiLlai AndhAthi's twenty paasurams

broke out like flood waters escaping a dam and drenching us

with the blissful anubhavam of AchArya Bhakthi next.

The prayer here is :

Kaavala ! ThUppul KulattharasE ! Yemmaik-KaattharuLE !

mARAtha ThUppul MaalE ! MaRavEn ini Ninn PaadhamE !

SaaRRumuRai , Vaaazhi ThirunAmams , NigamAntha Desikan

MangaLam followed and all of these concluded with the recitation of

the Tanyan of Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singar .

This evening prior to adiyEn's Father's SathamAna Uthsavm concluded thus

in this joyous way . adiyEn retired for the night's rest to prepare for the

eventful

Sri:

SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

Dear Sadagopan Swamin

Thanks a lot for your wonderful account of the Panaka Aradhanam for

Bhagavan Nrusimha. As you know, He is the foremost among the avatarams f

the Lord-matchless is his glory as declared by the Taittriya Upanishad

salutation "yathO vachO nivarthanthE aprApya manasA saha". The mantram or

Bhagavan Nrusimha reigns supreme among all mantrams as eloquently

discussed by Mahavidvan Paramapadavasi Sri Mukkur akshminarasimhachariar

Swamin "nayanagam shabdham". When examined from tantra shastram practised

in KeraLa, Nrusimha tAntrikam reigns on top of all the tantrams. Bhagavan

Nrusimha is the first avataram glorified in the Vishnu sahasranamam

(nArasimhavapushrimAn keshavapurushotthama:). Swamy Parashara hattar

glorifies this namam as "Sundara Simha:" for the fact that the maneof the

Lion was beautiful to behold. He is the beloved of the Ubhaya nacchyars.

In the Bhagavatam, Rukmini sends her message to Krishna in the fom of 7

shlokams urging him to come to her rescue. Not once does she addess the

Lord as Krishna. Instead she pleads "Please come to my aid in a timely

manner as Bhagavan Nrusimha" (kAlE Nrusimha). In the Nacchiyar tirumozhi

Andal elaborates on the reason for this appeal through the Brindavana

Pasuram "mAlAy pirandha nambiyE mAlE.."i.e., Rukmini was fearful of Lord

Krishna's propensity for lying. In the VaraNam ayiram Pasuram, when asked

who is it that held Her hand during the performance of the Laaja Homam at

Her wedding, Andal responds with the salutation "arimUkhan achyuthan".

Rukmini being the Amsham of Sri Devi and Andal being the amsham of Bhu

Devi have thus unequivocally declared their fondness for Bhagavan

Nrusimha.

Periya Azhwar declares that "a song which does not glorify Bhagavan

Nrusimha is no song at all". Furthermore in the Tirupallandu, he eulogizes

Bhagavan Nrusimha as "andhiyampOdhil arivuruvAgi ariyai azhithavanai" for

His timely arrival to uphold the words of His Bhakta "tasmAth sthambhEna

dhrushyathE"

NammAzhwar, the avowed lover of Kannan declares through the salutation

"yen singapirAn perumai" that even in Srivaikuntam, he desires to see none

other than Bhagavan Nrusimha.

Blessed are those who receive respectfully on their Heads, the dust from

the Feet of those who worship Bhagavan Nrusimha. Adiyen offers this

salutation to Swamin for being privy to the Anugraham of H.H. Srimad

Azhagiyasingar.

Namo Narayana,

SriMuralidhara Dasan
