I have come across two versions of Sudharashana gayathri

1) (Pranavam) sudharshanaya vithmahe, jwala chakraya dhimahe, thanno

chakra prajodhayat..

2) (pranavam) sudharshanaya vithmahe, maha jwalaya dhimahe, thanno

chakra prajodhayat..

Can anybody teach me about the difference between these two and also

are there any restrictions/selective usage of each in different

circumstances.

Are there any more versions also?

Dear Ramani,

>>2) (pranavam) sudharshanaya vithmahe, maha jwalaya dhimahe, thanno

chakra prajodhayat..<<

is preferable as chakra is not repeated.

Also, better to write in three lines format,

with each line having 8 syllables (excluding Omin line 1).

(Om) su-da-rsha-naa-ya vi-dma-hE

ma-haa jvaa-laa-ya dhee-ma-hi

tha-nnO cha-kra pra-chO-da-yaat ||
